In 2018, Brown is getting an opportunity to fight his way back to the field. He has been the Cowboys’ first-team nickel corner for most of training camp, and he has seen plenty of time on the left side, as well. And if he’s sweating a position battle with Jourdan Lewis or any of the Cowboys’ other young corners, he’s not showing it.

“That ain’t none of my concern, I’m just coming to do what I can do and let the cards play the hand out that’s dealt,” he said.

It goes without saying, but interceptions have a way of catching people’s attention. Brown said he has plenty of confidence in himself, but if he keeps up this level of play, others won’t have a choice but to take note.

“People seem to forget, but I know what I’m capable of,” Brown said. “I know what I can do. It’s like you said, putting it on tape. Make everybody else see it and go from there.”

After last season I would not have been surprised to see Brown released but to my surprise he has really come on strong during this camp. He has evidently put in the work to improve himself as a player and right now is making it hard on coaches to send him back to the bench. Look forward to seeing if he can continue performing as he has been.

Potato Chip.....

I didn't realize he needed to get it turned around.
Though seems quite a few on here rag on him. Well, they rag on about every player.

His play was not great and it did lead him to getting benched. I'm not trying to rag on the guy, he has gone out and evidently worked his tail off to improve as a player and I commend him for this.

His rookie year he played decently for a rookie, had some big plays. Last year, if people are honest they would realize teams picked on him, he did not have a good season. However this offseason and training camp almost every thing has been positive. Not sure why anyone would be upset about it...it is nice to see some legit competition that will make everyone better.

one of browns strengths is that he's very coachable. finally, he has a good coach. and he's been showing his stuff since Richard showed up. many are angered because pet cat Jourdan lewis has taken a back seat to brown's new status. competition is always good. truth is lewis has looked very good. but brown's just looked better.

I agree. And the early reports at training camp weren't great either. And I'd seen quite a bit of footage of him getting picked on and burned. But that seems to have changed dramatically during this last week and he has shined in practices. Hopefully, that is a trend and not yet another "up" in what has been an up and down career to this point.

At some point I believe Dallas will be so deep and talented at the position teams will start cherry picking our secondary in future offseasons.

I just hope Dallas will be prepared to ask for the farm if so.

I could easily see Dallas trading someone like Lewis or brown for a 1st if either one breaks out.

We are just really deep at the position

His rookie season looked very promising, then last season his play in my view dropped off. Lewis came in looking very good and I think it would have been easy for Brown to hang his head and give up. Instead he is taking this opportunity and fighting for a starting job.

No he was not great, but it was not as bad as many make it out to be either. IMO anyway.
He was inevitable to get benched anyway, once the young DB's got up to speed, as well over their nagging minor injuries.

I am glad to see him doing well as I want all of our players to do well obviously.

Agreed! It's also nice to see that draft position isn't factoring into things either.

Almost like he had a chip on his shoulder or something...
;)

Brown is a young DB too. Right now Brown play is showing big improvement enough so to hold off Lewis for now. Like you I also want all players to do well just felt Brown deserved some love for the job he has done thus far.
