I have heard a lot about the oline speculation about Leary coming back for the Gboy game. Has anyone heard the status on A Spencer for the first game of the season? Would love to see the bookends in action first game against Eli.

Anthony Spencer hasn't started running but vows to be back for the season opener
Anthony Spencer will go into the regular season without any preseason action, but he vows to be in the starting lineup for the Sept. 8 opener against the Giants.
"The more strength I build up, the more stuff I’m able to do in the weight room, it’s making me be able to walk a little stronger and feel less pain each day," Spencer said Monday. "So it’s getting better."

If he can't even walk strong how is he going to play strong and fast? He's got 10 days.

That was from 10 days ago. This article says he started running on 8/26. Hopefully he'll be ready for the Giants.

He dominated at the end of last year. Really want to see him in there with a healthy Ware and LB crew.

A knee scope isn't that serious usually, he should be back soon and definitely play the opener... Baring a setback

I would suspect his health is directly in proportion to how many days of training camp were left.

Training camp over, he can start to do some strength things now.

I don't ever expect any hurt Cowboys to come back on time. Someone is either always lying or wrong about the extent of the injuries. Ratliff being the latest example. I would say it would less than 25% Spencer plays against NY unless he gets on the field this week. I just don't see how he goes from knee surgery to starting without any practice.

I can see Spencer playing part-time against the G-men...let him go in on passing situations and get after Eli...

Who knows...

I read he should be ready for the Giant game......which in Cowboy FO speak means game 3.

:)

I swear, our FO and their timelines remind me of my sister. Anytime we have a family gathering, we have to tell her it's 2 hours earlier than it actually is. This way she makes it on time w/o even knowing it!

Broaddus, who's wuickly becoming my favorite source for truthful player info, has said he believes Spencer will be ready based on what he's seen.

It seems that unlike Mickey, Broaddus actually digs around for inside info on player status.

Monte Kiffin doesn't sound completely sure Anthony Spencer will be back for Giants

Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin said Anthony Spencer’s return will help a lot as the Cowboys get ready for the season opener. But he is not sure how much Spencer will be available, if at all.

Yeah, who knows if he will be ready or not. If he does play I'm not counting on him to do much without any practicing and very little running. He stamina will be crap right off the bat anyway.

I think Kiffin believes he will be ready. That seemed like coach-speak for 'he got out of camp by milking an injury, so he's in my dog house.'

Monte Kiffin: "Im sure [Anthony Spencer's] not ready to play 60-something plays, thats for darn sure. Im just hoping he'll be back for some"

Jerry on Spencer: "He hasn't played so there's a conditioning thing, there's an endurance thing, but he'll be 100% if he goes to the field."
