Or they could suspend himNormally the league's punishment is after either a) an arrest or b) the league's own investigation is done. Neither of those things has happened yet.
Goodell's powers are so broad that he could probably take action anyway, but that's probably inviting a fight with the NFLPA that's not worth it to him vs. just waiting a week so they can interview AB and the accuser.
There hasn't been a sworn complaint filed in this case. It's solely a civil suit. That, and the NFL hasn't conducted its own investigation yet.
They could still suspend him based on the results of their own investigation. They're meeting with the woman next week.
The action often comes after a long NFL investigation. I don't see this as particularly different. They've taken action against other players without there being a criminal investigation.. what makes this different?

Or Roger could ignore their own investigation and suspend him anyway. Oh wait, he's on the Patriots so that won't happen.
exactly. ANSWER? Because its the Pats. One standard for certain teams in the NFL...and a set of OTHER standards for all the rest. Good ole boys network is what it is.They've taken action against other players without there being a criminal investigation.. what makes this different?
I don't trust anything Goodell does. OR DOESNT DO.The Raiders traded for the nutcase, so I don’t feel much empathy for them. NE took advantage of the situation whether or not they knew of his plan beforehand.
But, Antonio should not be allowed to play until 2020 for purposely getting out of Oakland. I would consider that conduct detrimental to the league. He should not go unpunished yet Goodell won’t do anything about it unless these accusations turn out to be something bigger.
actually...I THINK your correct somewhat on the empathy..but look at it from a business perspective from the Raiders side of it. They secured the services of a supremely talented player for a ton of money, and got had. The guy not only was "flighty" and mental...he turned his back on his new team. Don't think for 1 minute that NE wasn't constantly undermining this from the start. I think NE wanted him at any cost, even if it meant breaking the rules. I would love for the NFL to look into this matter. Do you trust Drew Rosenhaus? If you do, I bet he has some ocean front property for you in Nebraska. This entire fiasco stinks to high Heaven. I don't even like the Raiders...but I do like Chuckie..hes good for the NFL...a good dude. I hate it that he and Mike Mayock got treated the way they did. Seems like a handful of NFL owners and teams are playing by a undisclosed set of rules, and everyone else gets the heavy handed treatment. The Raiders traded for the nutcase, so I don’t feel much empathy for them. Why are there so many on this forum that think any player should be be suspended immediately upon accusation? So many seem to be upset about Elliott being screwed, that they don't care if others get screwed as well, they just want to see everyone punished. And for some reason, they think that should happen immediately, even though it was well over a year before Zeke faced punishment. If they aren't suspended immediately, it's somehow because of their bias.
These people make no sense.
