Antonio Bryant for Larry Johnson

In some cases, yes.

He was just another guy with the Ravens. He was not the TD machine he is in KC. And I bet Johnson is JAG elsewhere.
So it couldn't be than an undrafted free agent actually got better? Wasn't Emmitt Smith a system running back? Aren't all running backs a product of their system. When did this "system running back" turn into a negative thing? Who was the running back that started people thinking this way?

Of course Holmes got better. But when backs can get plugged into a system and replicate numbers over and over again, you have to acknowledge the impact of the system, particularly a non-traditional system like what the Chiefs use.

The Broncos are a classic example. They can take ordinary run-of-the-mill FBs and make them 1,000 rushers (Gary, Anderson,Droughens).

And a system RB is not a negative thing. But the fact is, we don't have a system to plug any old JAG into. If we did, then this trade might have made more sense. We would have "depth", but disgruntled depth.

I remmeber Micky saying a while ago that we could have traded AB for Cheifs RB Larry Johnson but Parcells didnt wont to because he wonted depth at WR. Imagine that, with Jones still injured he would have probly given us the running game to make it to the playoffs.

There was also that little thing about KC not wanting to get rid of Johnson when it was said and done with. It just took a little time for Vermiel's diaper remark about Johnson to cool off. That trade was never going to happen.

Who cares?

It is so much better to be sorrowful that we gave up such an elite talent in Bryant and got nothing in return.
