Noticed that the Packers firing cutting assistant coaches today (so far the RB coach and the TE coach). Not particularly notable (and especially not notable for a Cowboys fan) other than it made wonder if the Cowboys have fired any of their assistant coaches.

I'm not sure, have they?

If not, does it say anything when playoff teams with winning records are evaluating their coaching rosters and making changes on a yearly basis?

Yet again, teams doing what hey need to do to improve, while Dallas sits on their duffs, thinking.....yeah, we have a great staff, we want to keep consistent.
Well, they been consistent for 20 years with that same philosophy....

I have know idea how any coach could be remotely comfortable after last season. Romo is a God, but he doesn't play every position.

Well they are going to give jerome a raise to keep him here.
and some others they are going to sign them up with raises too!

Some fire coaches we just give them raises.
Tony won 3 games, the coaches won 1 ! lol

Per Footballscoop, Steve Loney will move from asst. Offensive line coach to tight Ends coach. Is TE coach Mike Pope retiring?

Nope. Just not attending Sr. Bowl due to personal reasons.

But I remember a time when quality NFL coaches who were at their peak used to line up for a chance to coach the Cowboys under Parcells (Sean Payton, Tony Sporano, Todd Bowles) and even Wade Phillips (Dom Capers, Dan Reeves, Gregg Williams, Dennis Thurman).

Man, have times changed. Al Golden seems like Garrett's big coaching hire this offseason.

Cutting an assistant won't solve anything when the head coaching is the problem.

  • Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson is expected to be let go, sources tell the Sporting News’ Alex Marvez (Twitter link). Marvez notes that more changes to the team’s offensive coaching staff are expected to come, one of which could be wide receivers coach Derek Dooley, who is reported to not being returning to Dallas by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport (Twitter link). Dooley denied the report, saying he has yet to meet with head coach Jason Garrett, Pro Football Talk’s Charean Williams writes. The coaches have been with the team since 2007 and 2013, respectively.
