I can't see it, but wanted to see if anyone else has heard anything.
if he leaves i will be mad. al groh plays a hybrid scheme i have seen him line up as a 3-4 endChocolate Lab;1974551 said:Man, I hope not. I think he's just as big a must-keep as Barber...Maybe bigger.
He's the one I'd be trying to lock up long-term. He was really good last year, and in a system he'd never played before -- not even in college.
I'm pretty sure teams have to use their own first. They certainly couldn't have two and choose which one to give up, it would have to be the first overall.Jaxonsdaddd;1974554 said:I havent heard anything but It would not surprise me.
If I was a team drafting in the 20's that ran a 3-4 I would be interested. Its hard to find quality 3-4 DE's and hes young and still getting better
I know Miami is starting from scratch and will need 3-4 DE's. Wonder if Miami would trade up just a few spots from there second round pick, #32, to get in the first round and go after Canty

The draft order wouldn't have anything to do with it, teams would only be able to use their own pick as compensation. Miami would have to use their top pick overall, Oakland their own, Seattle their own. They couldn't acquire someone else's late pick and use that instead unless the Cowboys agreed to it in a trade. If they don't have their own pick then they can't sign someone tendered player of that value.fortdick;1974620 said:When you say a first round pick, does that mean any team's first round pick? The Giants first round pick won't be worth Canty, but Oakland's might be. Does the team place in the draft order have anything to do with tender offers?

Chocolate Lab;1974949 said:Yeah, I meant that in college, he played Groh's 2-gap 34 end... Which is exactly like Bill's. Last year was Canty's first in a system where he got to shoot gaps and make plays. And he did a darn good job of it.
I always thought Spears would be much better than Canty, but I was way wrong and am happy to admit it.
We're lucky Belicheat that very low first rounder yanked, because I guarantee you he'd think long and hard about both Canty and Barber with that pick.

It's not a dream, I just wondered what the process was. Any team that would even entertain the thought of giving us a first for Canty, I wouldn't want their pick, because I don't think we'd get a 3-4 end as good as Canty at the spot we'd be picking, and I'd hate to go into a season with Spears and Hatcher and Ratliff playing DE and not much else.Redball Express;1974984 said:..if you have the pick to forfeit, it's your higheset pick in the round.
You can not make a deal with the league to force them to take your higher pick and award that to the team.
It's not going to happen, nobody is going to oofer him a deal and give up their #1 pick.
Stop dreaming.
