Any Chance that Rivera quietly tells his agent....

A very good chance and he probably already has. I sincerely hope Jerry waits until has has interviewed him and Jim Caldwell from the Colts. I'd like to see Rivera get this gig. 4-3 or 3-4, I don't think it will matter. This guy can coach defense having tutored under Jim Johnson in Philly and Lovie Smith.

I would hope he would:pray2: , but I think Jerry is allready sold on Norv.:cry2: I hope I am wrong about Norv and he does a good job here.

Wait for what? do you really think Jones would drop this team on two greenies like Garrett and Rivera. Now that is a recipe for disaster.

Now, if you are talking about hiring him as a DC under Turner, I'm all for it, though we would likely lose him next year if he does well.

Your reply is the epitome of a concerned but balanced Cowboys fan. You don't like the potential selection but you want it to work out.

Nonsense.

Every coach has to be green at some point.

if Jerry was listening, he would've heard Rivera on the radio last week

I think that was a smart move by Rivera--get on the radio, show you're interested and hopefully impress enough to convince Jones to wait. I think it was calculated--Rivera knew teams couldn't talk to him.

You are right, but most of them have experience sorrounding them in one way or another.

If we went with Garrett, Rivera, and Bowles, we would then have plenty of reason to worry. No one would be that stupid. We would have the greenest staff in all of football, on a team ready to contend. Jones would never leave his team to a wing and a prayer and three green coaches.

Norv will be fine.

Rivera's 3 years as DC in Chicago coaching one of the best defenses in the NFL isn't experience surrounding him? His time in Philly with Jim Johnson isn't?

Okay.

Yeah, his three years and Garrett's one year would really make me feel at ease.

When Indy finishes with the Bears secondary, which has had guys running free in it for weeks, I think the excitement about Rivera will wane.

It won't really be his fault, but the Bears hang their secondary out to dry, and Brees had an absolutely horrible game or the Bears would still be in Chicago today...there were Saints receivers wide open all game.

Peyton Manning is going to pick them apart, I believe.

Especially when you throw in the fact that he has experience with this type of situation. A young qb coach coming and taking the offensive reigns. As Andy Reid, now andy and jim johnson were his boss and he would be the top dog obviously but I think given his background he can do it.

Especially if sporano stays and Todd Bowles stays.

And maybe he hires Mike singletary to run the whole defense as an assitant head coach.

That excites me, rivera/singletary/bowles/garret/sporano as the top guys here with a young team destined to get younger with our 10 draft picks and the imminent cuts of Bledsoe and singleton and possibly Rivera.

How young is this team going to be if corey proctor and pat mcquistan find their way on the field as starters along with carpenter next year?

Mike singletary has been portrayed as an assitant right now that does an excellent job with young players. I mean what else could we ask for.

And hey maybe like parcells, rivera/singletary have playmakers who would follow them here as free agents, like lance briggs.

Just saying, rivera makes too much sense.

I like Rivera, but not with Garrett. Not with this team. I need more experience on a team ready to contend next year. If we were 6-10 or 4- 12, I may feel differently.

The minute Garrett was hired, I jumped off the Rivera idea.

I believe the colts should make alot plays on them next sunday.

However that is not an indication of rivera's coaching abilities.

Just like Zimmer, rivera is running lovies tampa 2 defense. Rivera has a more diverse background.

One more big thing about rivera, is our schedule next year. He knows the nfc east and north very well and that is who we play. I am not saying you hire a coach because of that, just that it is a bonus because most of his coaching career has been with the bears and eagles. So he knows the personnell.

Given free reign I believe he will be creative, aggressive and smart running our defense.

Yeah, the purpose of every coaching search is to put the fans at ease. Screw winning football games.
