Any chance we spy Wilson?

Is there anybody on this defense that can be used as a spy on Russell Wilson? Limit him from gashing us like he did the skins?

You don't necessarily need a spy because Wilson is a guy who can run but really doesn't look to run unless you force him to. The skins have very aggressive pass rushers in Orakpo and Kerrigan, and would normally have success against a pocket passer, but against an athletic QB like Wilson, you have to play smart and not go after him and keep him in the pocket.

Carter....err wait.

It'll come down to the secondary playing well because they are going to have to try to contain him by being pretty passive with the pass rush. He's going to have some time to throw the football.

Dang right we will spy Wilson. Not every play, but his 102 yards (individual best) against the Commanders is any indication, we will spy and contain.

You can't spy him IMO. You simply have to play Lane Disciplined Football.

Wilson actually rushed for 122 yards.

Washington lost contain on him a lot because Kerrigan and Orakpo would crash in letting him get outside the pocket. I think it will slow down the Dallas rush some, but they should keep him in the pocket better if they play disciplined football.

Wilson will run some, but hopefully won't kill us with it.

I don't think we'll spy him. I think we'll play more zone and try to contain him, kind of like the 49ers game strategy.

Minus the 3 turnovers? Hopefully. That 12th Man will be rocking. Probably more so because it's the Dallas Cowboys coming to town.

We'll use a lot of zone so there's not a ton of need to spy all of the time. I don't think we'll limit any spying to just 1 player.

Personally, I would try and keep him in the pocket in various ways and make him beat me from the pocket. I'm not really interested in blitzing him because he can make so many ridiculous plays from outside of the pocket. If I do blitz, I want to blitz with corners that are athletic enough to stay with him. I'd like to do what Washington did in containing Harvin and Lynch to the point where the Seahawks were trying to force the ball into Harvin. It made their offense very one dimensional.

Both Mincey and Selvie are power rushers so I don't see them leaving huge gaps as they rush upfield. I am more worried about the tackles maintaining gap discipline on key 3rd downs and goal to go situations

Definitely minus the turnovers. The Boys have to win the turnover battle, or they will almost assuredly lose this game. The 12th man will be huge as you say, but at least we get to practice against loud, hostile, crowds at our home games. Hopefully the Boys will be ready for the Birds.

Defence can't do it. The only way we limit Wilson is long drives by Romo and the boys. We need to hold the ball like 35 minutes plus.

This is a game where our anemic pass rush might actually benefit us, our DEs never get up the field anyways so it wont be too hard for them to just stay in their lanes..................LOL

I was thinking the same thing. NFL teams usually don't spy, they zone.

Wilson did take a few good hits in the skins game, so keep hitting him whenever he runs and he might start to rethink ..
