Any Concern With Adam Jones Struggling?

I know that it's early and Jones is trying to get the rust off but are you concerned that Jones may not be able to get back to form this year?

It's tough for anybody to come back after such a long layoff. It's not like he was a Probowler for a few years straight.

Not concerned as of yet but I admit I want to see how he rebounds from this past game. Jones knows that he did not play that well in SD. Should be interesting to see how he does this game

I dont read too much into practice reports. Sure he played bad vs Chargers but it was his first live action in over a year.

Remember Tony Romo owned Champ Bailey in last years "practice".

It's an interesting question. I'm not concerned yet because Jones said himself that he always struggles in the first game and then greatly improves, and that he's hoping the same happens now. But I am a bit upset ath the media for dropping the ball and not investigating Jones' claim about his first game's performance and game-performances thereafter. God forbod Dallas had any real journalusts covering hte Cowboys.

His poor performance might have gotten my attention if he HAD to be a starter and there was no depth at the position. But he doesn't and there is.

And, of course, he's got time.

Mostly, though, I'm looking forward to seeing him as a punt and, perhaps, kick returner.

I would think you would have a hard time finding info on preseason games from 2-3 years ago and whether his previous coaches would remember a performace from a preseason game too.

I'd only be concerned if he was pressed into starting duties too early (knock on wood).

i agree....we have to remember that 1) he's still learning the defense, 2) he's been out of football for a year, and 3) he wasn't a dominant CB before he got suspended.

i think a lot of us got sucked into the hype and talk, with all the Deion conversations and such, and were expecting him to come out and be a 2nd coming of Primetime.

i personally think once he's got his game feet under him again he will make us the most feared secondary in the NFL (pending injury), and will be very good.

also, his biggest impact will most likely be punt returns (which i hope to see him get to do this weekend).

on a side note, i don't agree with the champ comparison, b/c he flat out wasn't good last year (i think he's the most overrated anyway). he made the pro bowl on name recognition last year.

It sgoing to take time for Pacman, but he will come around. It may take into the season though?

I doubt he beats out Henry, like most think he will.

I am a little and for another reason. I think if he continues to struggle, his confidence will be hurt and this may lead to more off the field struggles. He seems like he is getting toasted so far.

Considering we got him for basically 100 bucks and a pair of socks, I'm not concerned.

He can take his time and get his timing right, won't cost us much either if it doesn't happen.

Nope, no concern at all. He is quick, physical, confident, and somewhat cocky. I like that!!! He'll be fine by opening day...

I don't doubt his ability to be able to play NFL calibre ball. I just don't want a situation to force the team's hand and have to start him on opening day.

We need to be able to bring Pacman along and acclimate him to the speed of the game.

He's going against there best WR. The Cowboys traveled from a long Training Camp, The Broncos are not. I'm not surprised that the Cowboys, Jones, is not as sharp as he might be. I think a great deal of the problem here is that a great many fans believed that Jones was the second coming of Deion. When Jones was in Tennessee, he was a top 10 CB IMO. He was not the best CB in the league. He's a year removed, with no playing time, from that player. Newman is our Shutdown CB. Henry is our other starter. Jones is probably our third CB. We have Jenkins, Scandrick, Olg and Ball, all young players, getting valuable experience. We still have the best set of CBs in the league, IMO. It's different when the real bullets start flying. When Denver starts trying to pass block with a rookie vs Demarcus and Ellis is matched up on the other side with Ratliff and Tank coming hard off the DL, lets see how many deep developing routes Denver comes up with. Lets see how that pass rush effects Denvers ability to throw the ball. I'm not blind and i don't believe that all Cowboy lspickets flow with hot and cold running Hersey Syrup but it's also not the end of the world. Jones is still about the best darn 3rd CB in the league. He will only improve as he gets more time on the field. San Diego is a much better defense then Denver. Our starting O humiliated them. When we are right, we are very right. The sky is not falling and we will continue to improve as time goes on.

Maybe Jones isn't the CB many may have thought he was but he's still a very good DB who is going to get better. We will be fine. We just need to get back to work. That's all.

I worry just because when the lights come on, so to speak, the speed changes. Yes, T.O. is the best but.... practice is controlled.
