Just curious if any of our draft picks have signed yet. I'm guessing it's extremely early in the process, but figured I'd check w/ you guys.

nope, the week before camp is when most deals get done.

Especially with the Cowboys. It seems a lot of the rooks sign on the eve of camp.

I haven't heard of any draft picks on any team being signed.
Mario Williams is the only one, the day before the Draft. Why teams wait is beyond my ability to comprehend.

The agents wait to see where the $$$$ fall into what slots.
How deals are being structured this year.
Where and when the team free's up CAP $$$ to sign the draft picks.
Where and what $$$ of the rookie CAP pool the team can use on a certain player.
There are a few variables in this.

Yeah, but they can do that 3 months earlier so we have news. I basically blame them for everything.

That is normally when the Cowboys get the last pick or 2 signed. Hopefully we will not see the moaning by some on this board this season like what we saw last year with the Ware signing. Jerry will get these players signed and in camp.

My take is that we don't want to hand over a big signing bonsus to these kids with them having a whole summer of free time to get themselves into trouble with all that money. We wait until just before TC so that they have that on their mind and are occupied with football for the next 6 months.

"Idle hands are the devils playground" so just imagine what young idle hands with too much money would be.

This may sound insensitive, but teams need to wait to protect themselves from the stupidity that is the modern athlete.

The day before camp decreases the likelihood of a player "Len Bias"ing themselves or even an unfortunate accident. Could you imagine the PR hit a team would take going back after the signing bonus from the estate of someone killed by a drunk driver.

Valid point. I'd hope they aren't idle though. Work, work, and more work.

Most of these kids have so much credit that they can spend like crazy anyway. 65 or so of these kids will get an SB or 1 mill or more -- credit cards, advances from their agents. they can spend already.
