Any input on the new RB?

I don't even know his name, but heard on the radio he played for Cincy during the Seattle game a couple of weeks ago and apparently played really well. Just bringing it up as he should be active this week with Randle being out!

expect 1 carry at most.. unless McFadden gets hurt, which is certainly a possibility.

Isn't he huge or something? I'm not expecting anything, I just don't even know who he is.

Rod Smith (6-3, 230).

Game vs Cincy: 2 carries for 5 yards

Career totals: 2 carries for 5 yards and 6 receptions for 27 yards

Well, it's 2 carries more than Tyler Clutts has had in his 5+ seasons at least.

Maybe this guy can finally be that "big" back that we can use in certain short yar..... ehh screw it lol.

Speaking of Clutts, can we cut this fool already?? That tripping call was pathetic!

so you're saying in his 1 game, he had a career game???

Actually, I looked at his stats incorrectly.

The receptions were from the preseason where he also had 10 carries for 70 yards.

The best thing long term might be that he was regarded as an exceptional special teams player in college. I'm certain the team would prefer the 3rd RB play ST although I don't know if he's been here long enough to be on the ST units yet. Last year both Randle and Dunbar played ST as the 2nd and 3rd RBs but this year none of them are playing ST.

I had not thought about it, but it would be cool if he was a really good blocker and could replace Clutz on those 7 snaps per game that he plays.

No more than we use a FB it would be really nice if we could find a guy to do something else, maybe teach a LB to block

Alabama had very good success a few years ago using a DT Jesse Williams as a FB. He was very good at it and didn't just aimlessly slam into the line like some linemen have done in the past.
