I was wondering if any of you guys that have some insider info have any idea if the Cowboys had already struck a possible deal with the Rams prior to the draft?

JJ and Stephen were quoted as having a plan for the OL and we subsequently pass on the position until the 6th rd while the Rams take Roger Saffold with the first pick of the 2nd rd.

Then later in the 2nd rd we take Sean Lee who was rated as a 1st rounder but would seemingly be a need if we were prepared to trade Carp.

So in effect Lee was Carp's replacement as Saffold was for Barron's.

Maybe the two sides had a prearranged deal just in case eventual replacements for each player was added during the draft. Doubtful I guess but interesting to think about.

I don't. It is entirely plausible that there was a dialog between the 2 teams prior to the draft. Not saying that there was, but it certainly is not impossible - teams talk all the time.

i doubt teams play that "what if" stuff before the draft much. we got two guys who were values given our board. That's all there is to it

Can't u play along?

I have no doubt the teams had talked before the draft but I think both sides wanted to see if they could get a draft pick for the player first. When that didn't happen, they revisited the talks.

Ah nice, I went to western for the past, umm, few years so i figured i would have heard of where you were, good to know. Just saw western north carolina and had never seen it on here before so i thought i would ask. Man was i glad to get the hell outta there, but now i miss it from time to time.

While I don't know, I think this is probable.

Yep. Of course they had the discussions before the draft. Both teams had every available player at every position of need profiled, and that would include players they might want to trade for.
