We are two days post McCarthy and we were already behind the rest of the teams in terms of finding a new coach. I haven't heard of any interviews set up or taken place unless you count Deion. What's the holdup? Is Jerry really gonna wait till all the good candidates are hired and take one who will work for cheap because there is no competition at that time?? Has anyone heard of any scheduled interviews?

I expect this to drag out for a while for two reasons.

1) The attention it brings to Jerry and Stephen. Those two love the media attention. Next to the playoffs the Dallas coach story will be the biggest deal in the NFL. All the media will be covering it big time. The Jones boys love being in the spotlight.

2) Jerry and Stephen have become very timid when faced with decisions. Whether it be FA or trades or signing roster players to extensions they have a hard time deciding what to do. As a result they often fail to do the correct thing. Of course a FO can be too rash as well as too timid. Both are bad. Nothing wrong with being deliberate and studying/talking things out. But our guys are just timid to a fault.

Can't really get interviews with guys that are currently still in the playoffs. That might be why. The scary part is we haven't interviewed anyone at all it seems. Nothing in the pipeline. Makes me think they knew long ago who the next HC would be. Im sticking to that. They never wanted MM back here after the GB loss. It was the final straw. I think last offseason they already had the next HC ready and I bet ya its Gruden or Witten. Don't forget Lincoln Riley. I believe it will be one of those guys.

Expect an interview process involving an abbreviated list of available candidates. That has held true for Jones every single time there was a head coaching vacancy since the day he bought the franchise.

I think they were blind sided that Mike would just fall into line like everyone else. They are scrambling now
I agree with this but now they need to get some interviews lined up with those that are available now

Could be that OR they purposely made it so unworkable that they knew what the outcome would be . The Jones Boys roll like this and YES they would do this to a HC and entire staff if so compelled just outta spite after the GB loss. Thats why they didn't fight for DQ when he left. They were unhappy with him on the heels of the GB game. Believe me when I tell you all, the Jones bunch hold grudges and the desired outcome was MM walking. Thats why they never discussed another deal. They made things so uncomfortable for Fat Mike that he finally said I can't do it. It was mutual. I think we will have our next HC by this coming Monday. They likely have had it narrowed down to about 3 guys since last offseason. Zimmer being 1 of them but I think hes retiring. He wants no more of this long-term. Gruden is the name and Lincoln Riley, Witten, that are all realistic. The Deion thing was contrived for the fans to consume to make us think Jerry is trying hard. Deion wins Jerry wins. Deion gets more money and Jerry gets attention. I think when push comes to shove, it will be Jon Gruden. Hes a free agent, hes a SB winner, and he brings discipline. Hes the anti-Mike McCarthy. He still connects with todays players.

How are we not behind? Some teams have already interviewed the top candidates
So? Many teams will interview many people. We aren't behind anyone at this point. Only the Patriots have actually hired someone new.

Jerry is currently combing all of the nursing homes to see which coach he can bring out of retirement. I heard his first choice was Vince Lombardi but he just found out he passed in 1970.
