Any intrest in Ian Williams?

Any intrest in signing Ian Williams as a NT? He went undrafted, partially in part to his knee injury he suffered last season, but he has good size for a NT at 6-1 320 and has played in a 3-4 at Notre Dame.

I don't know what the long term plans for Jay Ratliff are, but at the very least Ian Williams can compete with Josh Brent Price. I can even see us carrying 3 NTs if we get him

I really don't see much difference between him and Sione Fua, which surprises me why he was drafted so high and Williams wasn't drafted at all.

I actually thought Williams would get drafted first.

I'm sure we've tampered with him. ;)

I'm a little uneasy about not having a big NT but I'm willing to see how Ryan uses the guys he's got.

I guess Fua gives you a little more in the passing game, but Williams is probably a bit better against the run.

I would ask you have you "heard" that, but "hearing" things is risky these days I hear

No, I'm playing off the thread where six agents have said NFL teams have tampered with UDFAs.

I'm surprised it's only six.

lol 3 NTs? Really? With no OTAs theres no need for guys who are never going to stick anyway.

I'm a little biased being an Irish fan but I'm stunned the kid didn't get drafted. Whatever the scheme was ( and there were many I'n his time at south bend) he got the job done. You have to kill him to make him quit, that work ethic is what you want In a NT.

Another Irish player I'd look at is darrin walls. Really stepped his senior year, 6 feet tall, runs a 4.39 40 and starred In the agility tests. He isn't a playmaker at the position but he rarely gets burned.

I think Ian Williams could be a starter down the road. But like I said earlier, it depends on what the defensive staff wants to do with Ratliff down the road.

i would love to have this kid
i really want to have a rotation of him and brent at NT (as space eaters and pluggers) and move rat to DE and let him rush

They talked to him at the combine and had him in for a visit I believe, I am all for bringing him in.

I think it depends on what we do with some of the FA DEs. I mean, if we just like this kids talent better then we could bring him in and just plan to use Brent and Rat at NT while developing this kid. If push came to shove, we could always rotate Rat in at DE and use Brent at NT. A lot depends on how far along Brent is. I mean, if he can improve the roster, I'm all for it. IDK.

The only reason I can see him not being drafted was because of the Knee, I know he visited us before the draft and heard a rumor that we are one of the teams he's considering signing with.
