I believe in paying attention and being aware.
As long as something shiny doesn't catch my attention when I am out with my kids I'll be all right
Of course, this is all assuming I have children one day

(any stats to back this up? lol jk)
Sorry....but I gotta laugh at this.
Yes, as a parent it's important to pay attention and be aware. But you are only human. You get tired....you get distracted....and all it takes is one second of not looking and you could lose your kid. I always hear people without kids telling parents how they would do things differently.
Well you know.....When it's your kid, do what you feel is right. Let other parents do what they feel is right.
I've never put my kid on a leash...but I have a friend who has. She was a single mom with two kids. She got pretty defensive when I razzed her about it. But it made perfect sense for her. She had no relatives in the area, couldn't afford a sitter all of the time, and had to go grocery shopping. So, she had to shop for her food (keeping an eye for bargains), watch her older girl, and keep track of her three year old son (who was a bit of a rambunctious child). So, she simply put him on a kiddie leash....for her sanity.
Being a parent (especially for single parents) isn't easy.
All that being said....Ellis does look like he's on a kiddie leash.
