The following injury updates and analysis appeared Tuesday on NFL.com Fantasy Extra:

Cowboys: Jones Update
X-rays taken on starting RB Julius Jones' injured ankle were negative but his status for this week's game against the Giants won't be known for a few days. Jones said after the game that he could have played in the second half if it was absolutely necessary. Rookie RB Tyson Thompson ran well in place of Jones and would likely start against the Giants if Jones can't play.

JJ is in for a big game if he plays, in my opinion. The Giants Run D has been good, other than against LT, where they were horrid. JJ has a very similar running style to LT, so I think he could have his breakout game. Plus, week 17 last year, he was absolutely unreal against them, though, they were very banged up.

Their run D's numbers are skewed cuz they played the Cards in game one (who had only 31 yards rushing).

Game 2: They gave up 72 yards in their "Away" game to the saints, but the Saints only attempted 22 runs cuz they were down 17-10 at halftime. Brooks threw 45 passes.

Game 3: They gave up 268 rushing yards.

Game 4: They only gave up 42 rushing yards, but the pass happy Rams only attempted 15 rushes.

The biggest reason their run D has looked so good is cuz teams have been behind early and trying to catch up by passing. I think the Key to our running game will be our defense. We can't let them jump out to a big lead against us.

I agree with you. By the same token though, to their credit, they've been able to shut down the run early which is why they have been able to build those leads.

The way I see it, the Cards might as well not even have an RB, and the Rams have 2 good RB's but never run.. The only impressive game, was shutting down McAllister.

Not to mention the Saints couldnt do nething but run...n run....n run. Aaron Brooks is on the hot seat in NO. I dnt think we should rush JJ, Thompson look good against Philly, should be a combination of the 2 maybe 3 if Anthony wants to play when hes has his shots omg he frustrates me, hes running like hes 185 lbs only without the speed...one hit n hes down. It may jus take some time
