He looked like he was going to come in last year and get playing time and NOTHING. Are the coaches giving this guy a fair shot? How does he look when he gets in?

I think like a lot of players, the coaches trying to get him to play multiple positions early really set him back a bit. Haven't heard anything about him since day one of camp.

I agree he keeps getting moved around that line, remember he was an older rookie like Weeden.

The problem is that when you're not that good you're going to get moved around till they find you a spot you're best in. We don't really hear about Melton moving around because he is a solid 3T.

Melton was a college RB who was drafted to play DE. He is a terrible example.

With many of these guys finding the best positional fit in various schemes is part of the process.
Rayford is one of a handful of prospects they have to decide between.

Part of what we may begin seeing is a desire to hide players they'd like to get to the PS.
Not necessarily Rayford for for many guys they know a lot about those guys and may not want the world to see them.

I disagree here. They've moved almost everyone around on the line (sans Melton who can't even seem to get on the playing field) looking for a good combination and to muddle through the injury situation. As for Rayford, I couldn't say, but I'm guessing he's just not good enough or he's injured.

Don't worry, guys. He looks amazing in one-on-one drills.

One on one drills allows individuals to use their athleticism, and athleticism and size are Rayford's best traits. I agree with the posters who say he is being moved around too much. Rayford needs to learn one position first, and concentrate on pass rushing technique which means hand work and setting up OL.

He is already on a steep learning curve due to lack of experience, becoming increasingly steeper by learning multiple positions because Cowboys coaches are trying to make every LDE multiple and also learn 3 tech.

I agree, I don't get why they didn't put Rayford at RDE when Lawrence got hurt to see if he can be a nickel pass rusher (which seems like his skill set). I can still see the team putting Selvie at RDE to start Crawford at LDE, but I would have given Rayford an extended look at nickel rush DE the minute Lawrence went out.

What's it going to be then, eh?

My first thought is to just assume he is not good enough.

But then you see DL we got rid of like Marvin Austin and especially Landon Cohen doing well elsewhere, it should make you think a little bit.

He's just not that good...He's 28 and hasn't been able to make an nfl roster after going undrafted in '08. Something tells me that some magical switch isn't going to suddenly come on and he turns into a useful nfl player

i have gotten through to the 2nd DL in my rewatch and Rayford is still playing the 1. He is not equipped to handle double teams but i have not really looked closely.
