Any news on the Capers front?

I know I had read in two separate articles that Capers was supposed to give the Cowboys his decision yesterday. Assuming that held up, I'm guessing he decided against joining us.

Does anyone have any updates?

What's it going to be then, eh?

He could have given his decision.

But since Jones and Phillips are in Phoenix, it is quite possible that the news won't get announced until they get back.

Don't just assume no news is bad news.

If they threw a press conference for hiring Campo back and Greg Ellis making the Pro Bowl, they would do one for hiring Capers. It is a bit hard to do when nobody is in town.

I truly think he would be a good addition to the staff, though it sounds like it may cause friction/uneasiness with Stewart which is unfortunate. If that ends up being the reason that Capers passes, it may spark a new "GROS" movement...

Knowing Jerry, he makes Capers hiring public tomorrow.

Yeah, he tackles Tom Petty at halftime and makes the announcement.

Then he announces that Pacman is coming to Dallas.

Then Randy Moss has agreed to a contract to play opposite TO.

If Stewart has a problem with Capers being hired them fire him. Problem solved.

I don't want Capers here.

Too many ex coaches stirring the ego pot.

Give me a young and passionate coach, not a geriatic retread. We already erred with Poodle Campo. Woo hoo - and Lacewell is back too!

Pretty lame there Nors.

Stewart was the young passionate coach. Apparently that might not be what this team needs. I'll give you Campo, however, name one guy "available" that would have been better.

Lacewell never left. You should know this.

I've not been following Cowboys news very closely since the Giants loss (still stings that one) did we hire Campo again?!

BS - Parcells and Ireland ran football operations 2002-2006

proof is we actually drafted many players.

Bringing Capers in is a dis on Phillips, our DC and counter productive. We lost in playoffs because Romo and offense did not deliver (again).

I don't mind if Stewart stays, but what does concern me a bit is that Wade is calling the defensive plays (or playing a major role in it) and is basically the DC for all intent and purposes.

Of course, this is not new news.

I'd just prefer we had a DC, whether it's Capers or whoever, who could actually do the job on his own.

Now, after a full season under his belt, maybe Stewart can do the job. I don't know.

But I sure wouldn't mind one more "senior" guy at least working in some capacity if he could help Stewart and Wade - and more importantly, the Cowboys.

I think the reason Wade chose Stewart in the first place was that we started a bit late in the process last season and there wasn't as much to choose from (in terms of DC), and also because Wade needed someone to show the players what type of 34 Defense he ran.

Thats fair, but we were bounced for a second season because our Offense floundered when it counted. JJ ramming Capers on this staff does not fix that and makes it worse- JMO

If they think Stewart sucks fire him. This is going South fast with Parcells gone. This crap would not be happening on his watch..... JJ has already lost here no matter what the outcome is internally.

He can bring Lacewell and Campo back and get giddy andpompous and we are 5-11 team again sooner than later. I fear we are a decade away from being the Raiders.

Honestly said, if it were me, and I preferred Capers, I'd do exactly that - I'd fire Stewart.

But in the world of the NFL, where there is a buddy system, etc., and we all know Wade is defintely loyal (maybe to a flaw), I don't think he will.

Now, more than ever...I want Capers on board. I was always convinced it was a good idea. Now I think it's a great idea.

I'm going to play the devils advocate here a bit -- I have very much been on board with the young and passionate coach idea -- but who is he? Who is the young passionate guy that has been Id'ed for this roll.

I was against Houck b/c I wanted Solari -- apparently Wade and I agreed on that one.

I wasn't against Campo b/c the other guys we wanted -- Thurman and Thomas weren't available and again, who else is the option.

For the position that we are bringing Capers in for - some sort of "defensive consultant" -- who is the option? Who do you have in mind? I want to agree with you but I can't unless you tell me who the young fire in his belly guy that we would get instead is?

And their drafts sucked outside of 2005 which was Irelands first draft.

The 2006 draft isnt looking good although its too early to tell and the 2004 draft was el busto.

The 2002 and 2003 drafts were both good drafts netting us multiple probowlers and starters, had nothing to do with Ireland and Parcells as in 2003 Parcells didnt even og to the senior bowl or participate in the scouting and Ireland wasnt even there.

As for Capers being a dis on Phillips I hope that you are aware that Phillips walked Caper out to his car after the interview. That action speaks volumes over your cheap conjecture about a 'dis.'
