I haven't heard or seen anything on Mo's progress. Is there a chance he returns for the Ginats game.
It would be huge if he can go, and even on limited snaps until he is a full speed again.

I'm guessing it's going to be the last week of the season or playoffs when (if) we see him again.

It was good to see Barry Church back in the lineup but he didn’t exactly have his best game. He was a step behind most of the night and could have been exposed if the Vikings would have noticed. Instead, the Vikings seemed hell-bent on targeting rookie CB, Anthony Brown, and to a lesser extent, Orlando Scandrick. Luckily for the Cowboys that cornerback duo played a rock-solid game. The two only gave up a combined six receptions for 32 yards off of 10 targets.

Add Mo back into this group now...

Spagnola said he may play the week after the Giants game.

I don't think there's any fixing our pass rush this season. Some of us were hoping on Gregory and Tapper, but it doesn't look like either of them will see the field. Our best hope is to get our entire secondary in sync and healthy and just try to win it all with an elite offense and good secondary. A healthy Mo, Scan, Carr, Brown, Church, Jones, Wilcox is a better bet over some miracle happening at DE.

Stephen Jones did not seem optimistic a few days ago. He expects him to miss a "few" more games. To me, few means at least 3.

I just want him back for the final, as a tune-up.

I would like Mo to be full power come playoff time. We just need something to boost this defense. Hats off to them for the Vikes game, they played great.

Lawrence and Collins were both very active against Minnesota. If the team sticks with a four man rush, and the secondary gets healthy again, things could improve even more.

Probably not.

Our best bet right now may be Benson Mayowa at RDE on passing downs.

That puts DeMarcus Lawrence at LDE and Tyrone Crawford inside at DT.

Agreed.

Orlando Scandrick looked so much better Thursday night, keep him in the slot role and Anthony Brown outside at LCB.

Get J.J. Wilcox and Morris Claiborne healed up and see where that puts the D.

Marinelli was on Special Edition or was it Jason Garrett show this week.
He siad and i often look at it this way too. He doesn't go by past fame stats on lack of sacks or takeaways or whatever. They just look at what they can try to do the next game. and you never know when those sacks or turnovers will come from.

Now does this mean we still need a good pass rush, and to find that or those players...yes we do. But just look at the next game.
DLaw coming around some more. And we are getting some pressure more so than the first games, but those sacks will come.

I would wait until the playoffs. They likely won't need the win in game 16 and assuming they get the 1st week bye in the playoffs, that gives him two more weeks to get healthy.

I prefer him healthy but rusty over not healthy.

My opinion could change if there are any injury issues to other DBs. Normally Jones could be the extra CB but either Church or Wilcox have been out for awhile now which keeps that from being an option.

To me, with Mo, I'd be very surprised if he's on the field for more than a few series this year.

I think he gets a MRI this week so we should know something soon.

My guess is he gets some playing time in the Eagles game. It sounds like he's returning to more regular activity, but if he's still a few weeks from starting to get into game shape, that pretty much means we're looking at the very end of the season at the earliest. I know Jerry/Stephen said they expect him back in the regular season, but especially if we keep winning, there's not a lot of pressure to get him back as long as he's ready and we have a chance to see him a little bit before the win-or-go-home games start up.

I don't intend this as a huge criticism, just and observation that every human has at least one weakness.

I love Marinelli as a coach but I'm not sure about his ability to spot talent or dole out reps. It seems like he was high on signing Mayowa and giving TCrawford the big contract. Also he has given guys like Golden Cock and Jack Crawford a lot of reps. It was weird that Scandrick said that Garrett made the decision to start Brown and have Scandrick only play the Nickel.

It seems that the reason Golden Cock played so many reps was because he had excellent scores on the "loaf" test every week (i.e. He was a very high effort player). I have a feeling that if the front office had kept Golden Cock, that he would be starting again.

On the flip side, I think he was involved in the selection of Maliek Collins which has been a great pick.

It's not uncommon that front offices have to override coaches (even great ones) in regards to talent acquisition. I think the Cowboys front office is now very balanced in that area. I don't think they ignore the coaches like they did before Will McClay was running the show (see Shariff Floyd) but I also don't think they throw out the work of the scouts (see Jason Williams, Wade Phillips and the 2009 draft).

I contrast this to the previous OL coach Bill Callahan who seemed to be excellent in terms of evaluating OL talent. He was the primary force behind drafting Travis Frederick and was involved in drafting Zack Martin and almost drafting Pro Bowl OG Trai Turner in the 3rd round.. I think he also convinced Jerry to give Leary the big guarantee to sign as a UDFA.
