Any possible way we could land both Donald and Ford?

I think we want Donald bad. If he was 6'4" he would be above Clowney IMO. He is all about football and a RKG. I think we have to trade up to at least 10 to get him, although I could see Zimmer grabbing him in the top 10. He is the most dynamic player in this draft IMO outside of Clowney, JF, Mack, and Evans, and Watkins.

While I'm not a draft guru by no means, I've read all the mocks and always see trade backs if Donald is not there. This team needs great players not numbers. Quality over quanity IMO.

In my ideal draft if we could somehow land Donald, and trade up for Ford I would be just about set. I know it's going to cost a lot, but for the draftniks what would it cost and could you live with it?

I agree on Donald, but there is a few DE I like as much as Ford that we could potentially land with our second round pick. Smith from Louisville is flying under the radar, Scott Crichton is a personal favorite. If we land Donald and Crichton with our first and second I would be doing back flips.

I dont see why height is all that important. A shorter guy can win the leverage battle over a taller guy by getting under his pads and driving him backwards. Couple that with speed, quickness, a violent attitude, and several moves, and you have one bad mamma jamma

I also love Crichton...and, I am a big fan of Chris Smith (Arkansas)...the guy has a motor....

getting Donald and ford would make me downright giddy, but if I didn't have to trade up to get ford and "settled" on Crichton, I would be pretty darned happy

I think De is the most likely pick in the first if Donald is gone,I am OK with Ealy and Ford in the first but hopefully in a trade down situation. my gut feeling is that one of Ford,Attachu or Ealy will be a cowboy.

My point is, I think we should trade up to get Donald for sure. What would that cost us?

Stand pat and get the most value. We can't afford trade ups and misses for the next 5 years...

You've got it backwards. The defense isn't even close to being 1, or even 2, players away from being complete. We need an infusion of talent everywhere on D. Trading away picks is not the way to do that.

What makes you think this organization is capable of drafting well in the later rounds?? What has given you any indication? I don't think we are a player away either, but if my choice is to move up a couple of spots for Donald, arguably the most dynamic DT to come out in years, you do it.

There is a high probability the Donald is available at 16. Trading up for him would be a panic move. He won't be as highly rated by many teams due to a less than ideal fit in their schemes. He is doubtful to be drafted by a 3-4 team. The Giants run 4-3 over or 4-3 even and prefer bigger DTs. The Bears say they're going to run a 4-3, but their DC, DL coach and LB coach have all primarily been 3-4 coaches. I expect them to run a hybrid scheme that requires some 2-gapping. The Vikings just used a 1st on a DT. It's rare for a team to draft the same position in consecutive years.

Its a deep draft, rounds 1-5 present the opportunity to get 3 contributors on defense this year. And what do late picks have to do with anything? You're talking about giving up minimum 3rd round pick to move up in the 1st. That 3rd round pick is a potential starter on either the d line or o line for this team.

I highly doubt Donald will get past Chicago. Ford is a late first early second round pick. He is out of our draft slot range. I dont think we will get either player.

I don't want a move up unless Clowney or Watkins or Mathews is there at 10. Back to reality I am waiting for Donald or Taylor Lewan to fall into our hands at 16. My plan would be to most likely trade back if these two players, who also fit our system and fill a need, are gone. And just because I love the draft I'm pretty sure that a few guys on CZ look at draft weekend as the best weekend in sports. It's Coming!

I think we need a RDE more than a LDE. We have like 3 guys suited for LDE and no one truly suited for RDE. But I don't think there are any RDEs worth drafting at #16. I think the best true RDEs available will be there when we pick at #47. Give me Attachou or Lawrence. I also think the only guys worth drafting at #16 who will be there might be Donald or a top tackle if one falls to us. I wouldn't mind trading next year's 2nd to move up to #11 to get Donald, and then spending our #47 on the best RDE available. Then I'm all for spending our 4th rounder on Brandon Thomas and have him replace Free next year.

If the Cowboys traded up in the first round and gave away a 3rd round pick... I'd snap.
