Any PS4 owners here? I have a few questions

Almost talked myself into buying and am torn on the different models.
I have already watched a few videos and would rather have some opinions from users here.

Is the Pro worth the extra 100 bucks? Even if you don't have a 4K TV? Have heard conflicting reports on whether or not you can tell a difference on a 4K TV vs a 1080.
Or is it better to go with the Slim model.

Your opinions?

Get the Pro then, you will eventually get a 4K TV. Better to drop the extra $100 now then turn around and buy the Pro later once ya get that 4K.

I'm not speaking as an owner or expert on the PS4 and this is just my opinion, but if you are buying a new system of any kind, it's always better to go with the latest version beyond any immediate features because there may be other limitations eventually. Meaning, there may eventually be games that require some CPU or memory or something else like that that is only available in the Pro version. It's also possible that firmware updates may one day only be updated for the Pro version that may make online services and games only playable on the Pro version.

Wasn't even aware there was a pro version until I did a little investigating, the pro version has a better CPU and GPU although from what I understand most games haven't been optimized for the pro version yet. After the price of the Pro version and few games you could easily get up in the 500$ range, which would get me a better GPU and a PSU for the computer.:muttley:

I play Elder Scrolls Online. File Size 100 GB (give or take) I have a standard PS4. Hard Drive 500GB. This will soon become problematic

100 GB! Wow
Is that with the Morrowind Expansion or no?
I believe the PC version is around 60 GB w/o the expansion.

How much did you have to DL after you ran the disk?

Morrowind pushed it to just shade under 100. The expansion was in the 30GB range

That's a good point I didn't think about! More and more games are using a lot of drive space.

Have interest in 3 games{at least} on PS4, Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy 15 and Horizon Zero Dawn. Two of them I believe are only on PS4.
You're better off going with PS4 for that reason (exclusives). I would go for the 1TB model as others have said your hard drive does fill up fast. Horizon Zero Dawn was a great game (finished it a couple months ago). Don't have a 4K TV, so no need for Pro yet personally.

I've got the Pro even though I don't have a 4K TV, but I will have one eventually. I wish the Pro was a true 4K, but it was the best at the time, so I got it.

I own a Pro. I got it day one when it was available.

Now I got it for the only two reasons to have a pro. I do have a 4k TV and I wanted the extra hard drive space and at the time there were no external HD's available for the PS4.

That said the 4k is absolutely NOT worth the extra money. Quite frankly you can barely tell any difference at all and truth be told that's because a lot of the games (Especially at launch of the PS4) didn't even support 4K graphics so the extra wasn't really worth it.

The extra space was absolutely well worth it. But now you can buy a 2TB external drive for the PS4 for about 80 dollars. You can probably find a brand new regular PS4 for about 250 now days so that'll be about 125-150 dollars cheaper than the PRO right off the bat. So you spend the 80 or so on the HD drive and you'll still come out ahead about 50 or so dollars.

And you won't be losing out on anything. They work exactly the same, I have noticed zero difference from my regular PS4 to my upgraded PRO.

You can probably get a heck of a deal on a used regular ps4 and upgrade your hard drive yourself. By the time games are optimized for 4k, the ps5 will be out.

I'm an Xbox guy but I broke down and bought a PS4. I went with the PS4 Pro. I would definitely go with that one. Since you are in the console market you might as well get the best technology available. I have a 4K TV but I am sure it looks great on 1080p as well. Just a heads up though, they can run hot! Make sure you have it in a breathable area.

On that note, I am currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn. Amazing game!! I am loving every minute of it. Great looking game. Played Uncharted 4 a few months ago. Also, an epic game. When I was taking a Redbox movie back the other night I noticed that they had the new Uncharted game. So, I grabbed it for a night. Pretty much the same game but damn is it a gorgeous game on my 4K with HDR turned on.

I am a slave to technology (and I like gaming) so I just had to have both consoles. They both have their ups and downs. The PS4 Pro has been great to me so far though and admittedly the console has grown on me overall. I'm still going to get me an Xbox One X though. :)
