I think the biggest novel I've ever read is The Stand.

Actually, when I was young. I couldn't ready novels. I couldn't make it through the first 2-3 chapters before I was so bored, I would never pick up the book again.

That finally changed when I tried to read Dean Koontz's book Intensity. That book grabbed me and I read the entire thing in one night. I'm thankful for that, because that allowed me to know that sometimes it's worth waiting for (or wading through the first few chapters) to find you've got a really great book to read!

I'd always been interested in string theory and astrophysics, etc., but it never dawned on me that there was anything other than textbooks on the subject.
