Is Fringe "episodic" meaning there is a new plot each show?

Essentially it's like X-Files in that each episode there is a "crime" that needs to be investigated and it may or may not tie in to the overall plot directly in a way that moves the entire thing forward, but they'll slip in some reference to the main characters and a bigger conspiracy.

The common plot between each episode is Walter, Joshua Jackson's father, has something to do with the crimes somehow. :laugh2:

It's kinda like X-Files but every "mystery" relates to the overall theme of events. It's between something like lost and CSI. You don't have to see every episode but they do refer to past episodes or story lines.

Fringe is nothing like Lost. I'm sure they'd love for people to think that, but the huge "mystery" that is persistent in Lost just doesn't exist in Fringe. At least not for me.

I think what happened to Peter is actually the most compelling mystery on the show, the whole Dual Universe/Olivia=Neo thing bores me to tears.

I was referring to the episodic formula that the original question was referring to...not the plot or storyline. Each show is half independent of the ones before.

Dr. Walter Bishop: I just pissed myself.
Peter Bishop: Excellent.
Dr. Walter Bishop: Just a squirt.

Dr. Walter Bishop: [on the phone with Peter Bishop] Hello Peter, this is me, your father, Walter Bishop.
Peter Bishop: Thank you Walter. I know who you are.
Dr. Walter Bishop: Excellent...

Dr. Walter Bishop: To understand what happened at the diner, we use Mr. Papaya.

Dr. Walter Bishop: This is upsetting because he is the friendliest of fruits.

I like when he demands some type of food for an experiment and they rush to get it and he just eats it.

And it always turn out that it is one of two or three important things he is trying to remember. First, something scientific. Second, something scientific. and then he loses his train of thought and one of the others will ask, "Walter, you said there were three things, what's the third?". Walter, "oh yeah, right, i'm craving yogurt,.... strawberry yogurt":laugh2:

I don't like seeing what i just described in every episode, no. I was into the show a lot when it first aired but i'm starting to lose interest as of late. The show is starting to lose steam and they need to do something soon.
