Any UFA to help O-line? La'el Collins?

I have no idea, I can only assume, but I have to believe Collins is done or else someone would have picked him up by now. Guy had some pretty serious hip issues which can be extremely tough to come back from.

I think the bigger question is who do you get rid of to make room for another OL? I get that the current reserves are not exactly Larry Allen and Nate Newton, but I came away from the Arizona game a lot more confident in the OL depth than I was. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to upgrade from a Hoffman or Bass if an upgrade is truly there for the taking, I'm just not sure a true upgrade is really there unless you want to start giving up draft picks in the trade market.
This is why I like him for the practice squad. Costs you nothing and if it doesn't work, so be it.

That said, I doubt he'd actually sign on the PS with the coach that cut him to back up the guy who replaced him lol

I mean I didn't think the OL was terrible. We ran the ball really well and yeah, there was some pressure on Dak but overall, I didn't come out of that game thinking holy hell our OL is awful.

I was somewhat surprised they didn't move Tyler out to LT.............. and maybe if Martin came back but Tyron was still out they'd move Bass to LG and let Tyler play LT.

- Plus how do we know Collins is even healthy now after Bengals cut him.
Is there a reason he has not even been picked up yet by other NFL teams ?

- I would have switch out Asim Richards for Chuma at LT. I'm willing to see
what our reserves do in action than a broken Collins.

- As for Tyler at LT, I'm only guess working, that maybe because
he is only just recovering from hamstring injury, the club did not want
to risk re-aggravating that hammy, since he'd have to exert more of a
a strain on the outside edges at OT, than he would in a phone booth size
working area inside at LG.

If they can pull that off I wouldn’t complain. Is he PS eligible though?

It was weird. Biadisz I think was the only one mentioned during the week and they said he "should be" good to go. The other 2 were just last minute scratches.
And, they were awful, understandingly. Why wasn't Smith at LT, Edoga isn't ready.

Dallas took a 12m dead cap hit to walk away. Cincinnati took a 3.6m dead cap to walk away. No one has sniffed in his direction in a couple of weeks. At this stage is he really any better than what we have here? Best to just keep walking!
No one has sniffed in his direction should tell you all you need to know. Word is out in the league and it’s not good.

Smith should've definitely been at LT. Having players jump from position to position is nice in theory but the carousel and player movement is not good. The Oline like any other unit needs time to gel. Seems like that's never going to happen.

Collins and his attitude were a product of the awful culture around here under Garrett that may or may not be gone by now. Jury still out.

After what happened to him before the draft, he should have had the greatest work ethic of all time.

Terrence Steele has literally half his talent but ten times the heart.

No thanks. Rather lose.

O lines need consistently, for sure.

You do realize Collins is still at least a month away from being cleared to play again, and lord knows what kind of shape he will be in when that time comes?

Collins may be the most overrated, overhyped player I’ve ever seen coming out of LSU. Most fans here in Louisiana considered him a 4th round 3rd on his best day coming out. Many here were dumbfounded that he was being viewed as a 1st. If his draft process had gone normally I’m certain he would have dropped precipitously before the draft with a thorough review of his film. Steele is by far the superior player both in talent and work ethic… he just needed real coaching for the talent to blossom!

I think we should have played Tyler at LT and Edoga at LG, but because Tyler was coming off the hammy, maybe we weren't as comfortable putting him out there. Edoga already has proven in this league that he's not an LT. I felt pretty good about his play at guard, though, the first couple of games.

:eek:I hate to hit the panic button for the O-line depth, however I am a little more than nervous after looking at the tape of what the team put on the field. Compound the fact the rbs don't block near as well as Zeke. I don't feel good moving forward. Would it be crazy to sign La'el Collins as a swing guard or tackle? Thoughts?

Agreed the oline was not really that bad 180 yd rushing with three backups.
Had more than enough time to throw the ball

I remember a game in Atlanta one time that was a hell of a lot worse oline play.

Collins is more banged up than Tyron Smith. He has back and leg issues and can hardly bend anymore. He has no lateral movement. I think he is finished as a player. If he was healthier I might suggest signing him as a backup OG, but watching him last year I saw a player who is done.
