Guard/Center from Penn State 3rd round pick last year. Scouts apparently had a 2nd round grade on him.

Any news on how he is performing in camp?

Can never have too much depth on the Oline.

There was a short spot on him the other day on the Cowboys TC Report.

I said he was finally healthy and competing for a position.

He was working G and T as a swing guy.

Jury still out.

I want to hope it's because Williams has just improved that much but.....................

The Cowboys radio show folks seemed to be singing Williams praises and saying he looks really good, especially for someone just 9 months removed from ACL surgery. Of McGovern, it was said that's he looks like a rookie, albeit a talented rookie, because of essentially missing all of last year.

As has been said, it looks like the plan to start the season is to go with veteran experience. Whether or not that changes during the year remains to be seen. But I think as many of us had openly wondered about, the abbreviated offseason has made competition for starting spots difficult for many young players and rookies.

Hasn’t taken any snaps at center. For now he is a backup guard. FWIW, all reports say Williams has looked very good

maybe it's the scheme change...but if not, this is disappointing
He really never got too deep into the previous scheme. He's really not much more than a rookie, at least in terms of on field experience.

Another possibility is that Williams is just looking better than before. I think he has kind of bulked up a little, and he has a year of experience after switching from an OT to OG, so maybe this is more a positive on him than a negative on McGovern.

I haven't heard that much about CMcG but will offer two things.

CWill is the starting LG from all indications. Supposedly looking good. We can only hope its being earned.

Jeff Cavanaugh made a statement that somewhat shocked me but hopefully its a nugget. He said that if for any reason CMcG had to enter the lineup he would be fine with that. I would certainly hope that means that McGovern looks capable but we simply haven't been given much info because they are trying to get all the starters as ready as possible.

this is Williams’s third year, so last year was the year of experience year. Hopefully he’s hitting his stride now...

You're right, this is his 3rd year. But injuries have held him to 21 starts, so 1.31 years of playing experience.
