Just wondering if Hunter has landed anywhere after being cut from the Jets or if he's even been mentioned? (I bet the FS position is looking more and more appealing to him now)

Also wondering if anyone knows how Sam Wilder is doing down in Tampa? We have a pick riding on him making the squad.

Well, I agree Smitty. I'd bet that FS definatly looks better then unemployment at this stage of the game.

Hunter is probably hoping that he gets picked up by some team that suffers injuries during pre-season at cornerback. Unfortunately for him, a lot of players, especially cornerbacks, will be on the market as cut-down dates occur.

I know everyone (not me) wanted him out the door but I'd welcome him back if he would be willing to play safety. Given his size and speed and that he's not too bad at covering receivers, he could have a long career as a safety if he got his head right.

If Hunter is still out there, I would like to see him brought back. I have a feeling that, if he has been cut and not received any calls from other teams, he might be more flexible in his role with the team this time around.

My guess is that he is on some squad somewhere.

I just checked Pete Hunter news from Rotoworld, and as I thought, he has not been picked up.

I don't think P Hunter will be back with the Cowboys. They didn't sign him when he was released, and they just blatantly chose Coady over him.

You wonder why his agent couldn't convince him of making the move to FS before he short-circuited what little of a career he had.

It would be interesting to know what his rep was like in college. Was he a little bit of a "me" player or troublemaker? I never heard that he was, but it's surprising that a guy like him couldn't see what was obvious to everyone else. The guy should have been a perfect FS candidate.

If he was brought back (not that I think BP wants him), it might be better to bring him back after game 1, so if he was later cut he would cost less.

If he didn't burn bridges here then if I were Parcells I wouldn't let his desire to be a CB derail me from a run at the playoffs. Not that I'm certain Pete would put us in the playoffs but just at the possibility of improving the team.

But I'm not Parcells.

As far as him jumping in without any knowledge, I'm not sure that would be true. He knows the coaches and the system so I suspect he's have a leg up that way. But he would not have true safety experience either.

I don't see it happening but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

The problem for Petey is that he isn't going to be a corner here. And he has not played free safety, so in reality he isn't any better than the candidates we have. Why pick up another guy that needs to learn the position?

His best hope is that a corner gets injured somewhere.

The only thing I worry about Hunter is his football instincts (Not Good). He has all the size and talent in the world but has no instincts for the ball of the game. Beriault is always involved in plays and around the fall from what I could tell (with a bum knee).
So I would welcome Hunter back as well, but he would have to blow my socks off.

Why does eveyone seem to think that football players get minimum wage jobs once they get cut from the NFL. I am fairly certain they can get jobs in Arena Football or Canadian Football. Hell, at least half of them finished their degrees. I seriously doubt they go strait to the poor house unless they are just bad with money.

I like Pete, but thinking of the probable final 53, there isn't one of them I'd let go for Hunter.

Even perpetual underachievers like Tucker man lower depth positions and have more physical potential. Pete plays a position where Frazier is supposedly being shopped.
Would letting a Ratliff or Thomas go for Hunter be palatable? A Crowder? Absolutely not.

Tuna once claimed he could make Hunter into Marcus Coleman, but the poster in this thread who said Pete lacks top football 'instincts' probably has it right. In NY, the cap hit signing Law was a factor in Pete's release, but even pre-Law, Pete wasn't said to be impressing. Rookie db Justin Miller was blowing him away in competition.

There is very little developmental potential left unplumbed in Pete Hunter, and every team has its own db projects. He hasn't played enough good regular season ball for any FO to prefer him to one of their own, and even a squad depleted by injury may be willing to factor vet minumum salary against Pete and go with what's dwelling on their own ps.

I'm now wondering how many underclassmen where drafted this past year? I wonder how many of our players graduated?

Unfortunately, many of the better prospects (at least the top 100) stop going to school once the season is over. It isn't just the underclassmen -- many of the seniors don't graduate. That's just stupid and the NCAA needs to do better to make sure kids finish degrees.

I know Ware finished his degree -- there was a nice feel good story out there about going to great lengths to graduate.
