Any word on Matt Eberflus?

Any word on him? I searched his name didn’t see anything about him resigning or getting a new job.

Was his contract up or was their just talk that other teams may want to discuss hiring him for position with their team? I don't recall, but if the latter is the case the team would have to get permission from the Cowboys to talk to him.

I heard his contract is up

all Ive heard is that he is drawing interest from other teams and that his name has been mentioned in New England as D.C. when Matt Patricia leaves.

If he has a chance at DC in New England it really wouldn't matter if he was under contract with Dallas or not because the Cowboys almost certainly would give permission to NE to talk to him. Teams generally don't stand in the way if one of their coaches has a chance for that kind of promotion.

agreed.
hope we can keep him but not looking likely.

5. Like we mentioned with Wilks, all these potential head coaches are lining up staff now and so you’ll hear some younger names rising to the coordinator level over the next week. One would be Cowboys linebackers coach Matt Eberflus, who could well become a defensive coordinator wherever Josh McDaniels winds up.

I'm really kind of curious about him. I don't have anything negative to say about him, but I don't know that I have anything positive either. He may be a very good coach, but truth be told I'm not sure what fans are going on to have that belief. His coaching background seems solid, but not all that remarkable. What am I not seeing?

Most likely why there hasn't been any updates about him then, as New England's season is still going. I'm guessing that would be his first choice, if they're interested in him as a DC.

He declines to sign an extension last year, so I would sssume he will only be back as a DC.

dont know that I would assume that but it does seem like a potential scenario. I dont know why everyone is so high on this guy but it sounds like he has some potential.

Interesting whether that's true or if folks are just connecting dots (Rob Ryan is part of the Beli coaching tree)

He's in limbo while the Patriots are alive. Though there's also the rumor that Marinelli could retire and we'd presumably elevate him here.

What's his connection to the Patriots, anyway? I thought he was a Rob Ryan underling all the way?

That's what I thought. I definitely remember Ryan talking him up in interviews while he was here.

Yeah, he was like his bag-boy. To the point where it was a surprise he stayed here when Rob left. Good decision, in retrospect.

There must be some connection, somewhere. With E rumored to be connected with both NE and wherever McDaniels goes.

Eberflus is crap without Lee! Get the hell outta here, Matt!

Rob Ryan coached the DL for Belichick in the early 2000s.
