Any WRs you'd consider trading for?

Based on the two threads I started re: OL performance and Dak's ability to throw to WRs on 20+ yard plays, I think we have some synergies that have created our offensive lag. Namely, without a WR (or TE) able to worry defenses, they can stuff the box and stop Zeke from controlling the tempo of the game.

Any WRs out there you'd be interested in targeting for a trade? Let's set the market at a 2nd - 4th round pick.

  • Phil Dorsett, would give a 2nd
  • T.J. Jones, would give a 4th
  • Jordan Matthews - FA, would give him a look
  • Dez Bryant - FA, yeah yeah, not happening, at this point I'd give him a look
  • Jeremy Maclin - FA, would give him a look

Wish we could've scooped up M. Bryant, but sounds like the Raiders got to him.

It's funny cause if Dez was from another team and we needed a WR he would have been signed by us to a 5 year 40 million $ contract the day after his release.
Exactly... after what I saw last weekend, I want him back. Maclin would be fine as well

Jordan Matthews is the guy I want. He is a high-end #2, 26 years old, has some injuries but room to grow into a true #1.

It is an honest question: Are you a WR away from going where you want to go? It may 'only' be a second round pick you trade for that star WR, but what if it ends up being 8th overall in that second round? That's more than any ole 2nd rounder. Is that WR really the missing link from jumping 15+ spots back in the draft? What if you trade for that WR, and Dak puts up the identical statline to last week? Win with the team you have, then add pieces as a luxury, not as a fix.

What would be the general reply be to letting the season run its course. Fix what can be done with what we have.
At the end of the season we'll have a better view of what is lacking and what is working in players and coaches.

I do think having a WR that the defense had to plan for last weekend would've won us the game, as it would've given the line, Dak, more time, and Zeke bigger holes.

Wonder what the community thinks of signing Matthews or Maclin, since the chances of a Bryant reunion are near zero.

We like what we have.

Dorsett is set to be an UFA, wait for him then.
Matthews is an interesting name, is he still injured?

This is on the FO. I can't believe they thought this group was going to scare anybody. Beasley is now our #1 receiver.

Think Matthews is still a bit banged up, but he's better than who we got without question.

Like u said teams aren't focused on the receivers....hence they are getting open down field but Dak is only looking within 10 yards or 1st read only. He has no anticipation of where these receivers will make their break to create the separation. Even when we win off the line Dak isn't seeing it. Looks like a rookie, staring down his primary, not stepping up properly, the list goes on.

I'm not throwing money (or draft picks) down a well to try to put a bandaid on what is a bigger issue.

What difference does it make what recievers you pick up!! Its plain and simple: It don't matter if you got a Bugatti for a reciever if you got a blind man(Dak) driving it.

6 months late for this conversation.

They're now just going to have to stick with their "we don't need WRs or TEs" experiment and see if it can work.

People around here are just dying to give away high draft picks. You realize this is a bottom half team even with a new WR, right?

current WRs got open. did their jobs, and held their hands up to be seen. QB was playing ultra safe or maybe not seeing them.

Or the we need no stinkin #1 receiver camp on here, we just need guys that can get open and happy they get the ball 3 times for 24 yards....

Maybe Megatron could still do freakshow catches.

The issue is/was at QB week 1. There were open players, he either didn't see them in his reads or had a poor throw to them.
Say he connects to Jarwin and Swaim in the game(I'll try to find those clips) and it's another ball game.
