Any WRs you'd consider trading for?

First year players on the Oline are the main issue IMO, no real communication which is to be expected after the preseason. It is going to rough sledding again this weekend going against Snacks and a better DB group than the panthers.

If this were on any other team's forum, and their WR group was as bad as ours, then I'm pretty sure that Dez Bryant would be near the top of their fans wishlist. Unfortunately Dez returning to the Cowboys isn't an option.

Jerry was hanging with him last night

This WR corps is only made better by a WR who can command a double team, and they just let one go.

There are no WRs available who can make this unit any better, because WR isn't the problem.

"Bring Dez back! Bring Dez back!" The same people who swore there'd be a feeding frenzy for him are chirping for him to be brought back because - shocker - he's still unemployed.
Dez wasn't the difference maker last year, and he wouldn't be one now. Just imagine trying coach him after releasing him and bringing him back. Good luck. :muttley:

It won't be easy, but if he is 10% as hungry as he appears to be, bringing him back on a lower salary is not a bad idea.

He did perform, just not at the level he was being compensated for.

Lower salary? We're already paying him $8 million for this season and he's not even on the roster.

We don't have anyone that could actually make a trade that would be in our favor.

I'm not opposed to kicking the tires on a new option, but I don't see it creating a difference. IMO, it's not WR "respect" that's missing, its QB. Dak hasn't adequately earned it in his young career. When its 8 in the box, you HAVE to make it pay through the air. I'm not as concerned with WR as I am QB at this point

It's funny cause if Dez was from another team and we needed a WR he would have been signed by us to a 5 year 40 million $ contract the day after his release.

What precedent do you have for that? TO 12 years ago?

In season trades are incredibly rare, and because teams have already set their rosters with the players they plan to use during the season, the only way to get a meaningful player away from them would be to drastically overpay.

Based on the two threads I started re: OL performance and Dak's ability to throw to WRs on 20+ yard plays, I think we have some synergies that have created our offensive lag. Namely, without a WR (or TE) able to worry defenses, they can stuff the box and stop Zeke from controlling the tempo of the game.

Any WRs out there you'd be interested in targeting for a trade? Let's set the market at a 2nd - 4th round pick.

  • Phil Dorsett, would give a 2nd
  • T.J. Jones, would give a 4th
  • Jordan Matthews - FA, would give him a look
  • Dez Bryant - FA, yeah yeah, not happening, at this point I'd give him a look
  • Jeremy Maclin - FA, would give him a look

Wish we could've scooped up M. Bryant, but sounds like the Raiders got to him.

I worry that Hurns has been a dud, but I don't think the WRs are a problem. Upgrading TE would be bigger bang for the buck, given how meh the current crew is.

What OCs are available?

Get a QB that consistently hit open WR And they defense will play us differently. They are not stacking the box because they don't respect our WR, they stack it because they don't respect our QB. You could put Jerry Rice, Randy Moss and Mike out there and they would play the same way they do now until the QB makes them pay for it.
