I just wanted to leave another message and give you guys an update.
I appreciate all of the support you guys have shown, and all of the kind words and stories of similar situations has eased the pain a little. It is nice to hear so many others have stories of their beloved pets, and I know it can be hard to bring those memories back up, but it does help, so I wanted to thank you all.
The vets were amazingly kind to us, and Snoop. They let us see him yesterday morning, and he passed away on a gurney type of pallet, they had a blanket laying on top of his body and a pillow for him to rest his head on(just like a human would have). When they took him back to stay overnight, they tucked him in, and seeing as he had no energy, he didn't seem to move at all over night.
I prayed really hard that God would whisper to him overnight and let him know we loved him, and it was okay if he wanted to let go, and that we understood why. As I woke up yesterday, and got ready to head over to the vet, I got a phone call, from the vet letting me know that he didn't make it through the night, but from what they can tell, looks to have went peacefully in his sleep. I wanted to go see him one last time, and my dad wanted to do the same so we headed over to the vet. He looked really peaceful, and for some reason it felt like a burden was lifted from us, because we knew he wasn't in pain anymore.
He was really fond of carrying a pillow around with him throughout the day and moving it to wherever was the sunniest part of the yard. He was a pretty smart guy. So we picked a spot in the Garden which seems to get more sunlight than anywhere else in our yard, so we figured that would be the spot Snoop would have picked for himself. We ordered a Pet Memorial stone online where they laser etch your dogs picture and put a small message of your choice to mark the spot
It's been very tough, as it seems like a lot of you know already. But we will make it through, and once again I do appreciate all of the support and stories that were shared. Thanks for easing the pain a bit under this tough time.
