This is the first time I've seen an instance where the Cowboy's play the starters for, at least, half a game two games into preseason. I realize the reason is because the Titans will be playing their third game and will likely play their starters for, at least, half of the game and this is really the game that open's up Cowboy's Stadium, so Jerry will want to give the fan's their money's worth. But what about next week? The team we play then, will likely be playing that game as their dress rehearsal. Will we play the starters for half the game again, or revert back to a strategy similar to what we did at the Raiders?

Obviously, with my primary wish being that we can enter the regular season healthy, I'm hoping we stick to the norm and let this be the only game we expose are starters for an extended period of time.

I thought conventional wisdom was to play your starters the most in this game, then dial back for preseason 3 & 4 - the idea being that if any minor injuries happen to starters (knock wood), they'll have a week longer to recover before the season.

Id rather stick to what we did the last few preseasons. Seemed to work, why mess with it? Besides it would be good work for the second stringers to go against the Titans 1st Teamers. But whatever Jerry wants i guess.

Usually it's the 3rd preseason game where your starters play the most. This is a special circumstance because we're having 2 weeks in a row where the other team is playing their 'dress rehearsal' game. Wade acted like the starters were going to play more in this one, so I think that's what we're going to see.

As for SF, it probably depends on how the starters play tonight and practice next week that determines how much they play against SF.

First teamers will probably play a half, one because this is the titans third game and a dress rehearsal for them and two, its the first semi game at the new stadium which will get a ton of football coverage, so Jerry will want to showcase it because it's a national FOX broadcast

Something tells me the new stadium has more to do with it than the fact that the Titans are playing their 3rd game. But I'm excited to see it.

I think you are right.

I cant remember ever being this excited to see a pre-season game. I really cant wait to see how our first team matches up with a tough, physical Titan team.

Same here. It's almost like a regular season game I'm looking forward to it so much.

It didn't work in the sense that Dallas did not have post season success.

I don't have a problem with the starters seeing a half of work this game and next game. I also want to seem some 2nd string guys getting some heavy reps along with the 1st teamers during both games. Mix in a guy or two who is currently 2nd string to play along side some starters. Throw Doug Free into the game early in the second quarter to give him experience next to a starter instead of having to play next to some other 2nd team guy.

I always thought it was the 2nd to last preseason game, not necessarily the 3rd since a select few play 5 preseason games. I know when the Cowboys played 5 preseason games it was their 4th game that was the dress rehearsal.

Tonight may be an exception though.

There is no set way to do it, nor is there a right or wrong way.

Some teams play their key guys very little during preseasons.

Some teams play them alot. Tom Brady played all the first half of the first preseason game last week, does that make Belichick stupid?

I see no issue with our guys playing the first half or even into the second half. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice didnt play in every game as rookies. Roy Williams just went through his first camp here. They are changing the offensive and defensive schemes a little bit (2TE sets on offense as base, more press man to man on defense)....They ended last season poorly and want to erase that asap so they get off to a great start in 09.

As long as the Cowboys play I'm happy. I do want the starters to get into game shape playing at speed and against other players besides their own.

So how will the Cowboys be remembered for the opening game?

1. Will they let Chris Johnson or others to stomp on the Star/degrade the stadium?

2. Will they allow another back to back 70 yard runs, such as in the closing of Texas Stadium?

3. Will they come in represent the Stadium with authority?

4. will the get blown out much like last week?

5. or Does it even matter?

I perfer the boys to come in hard and SHOW this is our house, and let Jerry Jones NO, Cowboys Stadium is in good hands and well represented....
