I'm a huge soccer fan. I keep up with the mexican league on a daily basis. And other leagues I check up on from time to time. The ones I really get into are the classics. Like Barcelona vs Real Madrid in Spain. Boca Jrs vs River Plate in Argentina, and Manchester United vs Liverpool in England. I was just wondering since it's not big here in the U.S. I was just wondering how many of you actually really are big fans of the sport.

I don't mind it but more for the big tournaments like Euro, Champions' League and World Cup.

Canada sucks bag at soccer so I cheer for France. They should win their next two Euro qualifiers setting up a huge last game in Ukraine in November to see if les bleus will qualify for Euro 2008.

I try to follow as much as I can, but it's tough in the US. I try to follow the Premier League, but they only show matches on Satellite channels, so I can't watch those unless I'm back home from college. They do show Champion's League matches on ESPN so I watch those whenever I get the chance.

And my favorite team is Arsenal.

Since I live in Germany, I have been a soccer fan before I found out about the football thing in the US.
And I do enjoy watching a soccer match once in a while live in stadium. It's a much different atmosphere compared to football games.

My favourite soccer club is FC Schalke 04. They play in the first German soccer division. The have a long tradition and were founded in 1904 and have won multiple championships in the early years. It's mainly a club supported by the coal mine workers. It's somewhat of a religion in the city. The last pope was also a member of the club.
The have been close twice to winning the championship in the last few years, but faded at the end of the season to finish second.
They are also called "Champions of Heart", because the lost one championship in heartbreaking fashion. In the last game of the season they needed a win or they had to depend on the outcome of a parallel game with Bayern Munich. Schalke played remis. The game was over for Schalke, and Bayern also had to play remis. The fans of Schalke were already celebrating the first championship for 50 years, when Bayern shot the winning goal 5 minutes in surplus time. Bayern Munich took the championship.
