Anybody think any undrafted FAs or other such players stood out?

Last few years we've had several undrafted free agents whose performance earned them positions on the Cowboys' roster. In first preseason game last night I didn't see that kind of play but realize that could easily change in the remaining 3 games. Obamessee (sp?) did deflect a pass which lead to Davis INT/TD & Joey Thomas got an INT but more is needed. Battle wasn't as impressive as I thought he would be. Did anybody notice players who did perform and at this point have legit shot?

No one really stood out. Jamel Richardson didn't do much to help his cause.

I thought Matt Moore played pretty well. He needs to work on not locking in to his receiver, but he scrambles well and throws a nice ball.

I thought Battle was more versatile as a RB than Tyson Thompson was. Tyson is really only good on sweeps. I just don't care for that style of running. Add in his lack of fire in the return game and I think his roster spot is up for grabs.

Richardson got open but couldn't seem to make the catches he should have.

Urban does have great hands, but I thought he was going to get killed on Punt Returns. Give him credit for toughness.

Tony Curtis was a surprise last night. Where was that in Europe? I wanted to see more of Bergen so there was a basis of comparison.

Thanks for mentioning young QB. I totally forgot about him which I shouldn't have cause if he continues to play that well he's our #3 QB. Heck, could we get him ready enough to grab #2 spot. Nah, really that very unlikely but we can always hope.

I'll be honest, if Romo goes down I will prefer Moore over Johnson even though I know it won't happen.

Wade said the 52 man roster is pretty much set, so it's not very interesting keeping track of the end of the roster guys this year. I did like what I saw of Moore. I like QB's who make the game look simple, and Moore has a little of that.

Adam Bergen looks like a throwback player. All scruffy and looks like he has a nasty mean streak in him.

Alex Obamese was credited with 2 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, and the deflection?

Even against backups...that's showing some hussle in limited playing time.

If you look at that play w/ the deflection, you see that he didn't exactly get a major burst off the line BUT was able to move quickly to avoid an OLineman and head toward the QB. His eyes must have been wide open b/c he timed the jumped just right.

I'm biased b/c he's a UTEP guy, but I think he's could add quality depth. Unfortunately it'd be to a position that already has lots of depth (OLB/DE)

ALSO: Moore... he looked very poised back there. I was impressed.

Moore did look very promising IMO. Did Henson ever look like that?

We bag on Thompson too much. He looked better than Marion Barbarah on every run. It was just the first game though.

I'm calling it:

Matt Moore = Payton Palmer

I was really impressed with Moore. Yeah, it was against 3rd and 4th stringers, but so were the guys that he was in the game with.

I wouldn't say that's our next starting QB, but as has been said elsewere, if Romo goes down, I think I'd rather see Moore in the game instead of "Checkdown" Johnson.

Who knows, Moore could be the Jason Garrett to Romo's Troy Aikman.

Why? As many have stated, Moore was locking into a WR.

He looked green last nice when he was doing that; but he did warrant enough from what I saw to think he might be worth developing.

Yeah, Johnson's arm is weak. But he can spread the ball around and dink and dunk our way down field, should we need to turn to him.

Moore showed a little something in one preseason game. And from that, you're more confortable with him as QB than Johnson? Explain, please, because I am of the opinion that we need to see more of him yet.

See, now that's a stupid thing for a coach to say. It sends a message that, for some guys, no matter how they play they will be cut

I think Bergen has the inside track on the 3rd TE job still - he's started in the league before. It was for AZ, but still.

Any folks with Cardinals insight know why he was let go? Seemed from his stats like he was a decent contributor.

Deon Anderson was drafted, but he looked good on special teams. He destroyed one of the Colts in the wedge on the kickoff following KD's touchdown. He also drilled the returner on the sidelines after the last FG. I didn't see him do much on offense the few times I saw him in there. For those who Tivoed the game keep an eye on him. He's #34 and he just unloads on people.

Thanks for the head's up -- I was going to look and see what he did - I didn't notice him on offense but his calling card in college was ST. I think he's pretty close to being a lock - we must have been very excited about him since we traded up in the 6th round to get him. To me, that says he's getting at least a year to develop as a FB.
