Anybody want to go out on a limb and say it?

Do some veterans feign injuries?

That a lot of veterans (not all) feign injury when training camp opens? That a lot of veterans know when to have surgery (near the opening of camp)? That some veterans know how to work the system.

Yeth, I know, I know. No self-repecting Cowboy would do that. They are all players. They work hard. They half high standards and devotion to team and teammates. That is what the coaches and front office say.

But what say you, you savvy mens and womans?

The feigning "injury" part I can get. Jerry. Kramer talked about this in "Instant Replay" back in the 1960's, how a mysterious hamstring strain could be your best friend for a few days in training camp. Waiting until training camp for surgery, I'm a little more skeptical that a player would take that kind of risk with his season.

I don't think any of the guys we have out is faking

Livings and Bernie is playing for their jobs it makes no sense for them to fake it at this point when that could lead to them losing their jobs

Spencer is having surgery that's taking it a little far if you are faking

There's no point in even mentioning Craford

Ratliff is the only one you can kinda question but with his injury history in recent years i find it far more likely that he's just hurt

I think players would rather practice than rehab. None of the missing are out on the town they are at the facility and they are working just not with the team. Spencer will have a minor procedure then will do some rehab work. Sorry I don't see the fun or pleasure of rehab

Why do people think rehab entails sitting on your butt? Leary was pushing a cart yesterday.

I don't know, most players hate having to go through a rehab. These guys are not doing like LT use to do in NY where he would hold out every camp then come in on the last week of camp. The players who are missing due to injury are still havign to work just doing so on the side with trainers.

I would like to think it never happens, but this season I don't think any of the guys on defense would do it, see how they are learning a new system, and missing time in training camp could set them back a lot.

They do it after they're tired, not before they've had 1 practice.

Thanks, Doomy. I was getting worried you wood not show up to minimize me. But at least you are paying attentien.

I don't get it? Why would guys want to rehab? That is not something that is fun and your not getting out of work. It is not like holding out as players once did.

When was the last time you practiced football? Even in Calif. it is brutal. Rehab is not just sitting, but it involves a LOT LESS work. Some vets feel entitled to take it easy when camp opens due to injury. Some might like the "news" of their being hobbled. And some might want their position coaches to value them even more as they watch the backups and rookies. Who knows, Iggy? But, as always, I value your comments. Hey, my nose is growing and my pants are on fire . . . .

I think only an entrenched veteran starter could pull it off. Any other player would risk jeopardizing his career.

It involves different work and much of it done with the trainers, they are not getting off the hook. Also players know their jobs are always on the line. I think 1st of all to even get to this level a level most can only dream of takes a person who is competitive and not being able to get out on the field is not something most guys would look forward to. The every day grind of rehab is not a picnic

you mean we're a soft team? we've been accused of worse things like taking off to cabo on a playoff bye, getting drunk on a friday night before a do or die game (with a teamate actually dying in the process). btw i agree, guys like ratliff and spencer sure look suspicious with the timing of their injuries.
