Anyone back pack here?

Not your day hikers - overnight people.

I'm getting ready for a week long hike and was curious if anyone here did that type of recreation.

All the time. I'm leaving for Big Bend next weekend with my kid since he's out of school on Presidents Day. I live in Texas so I hit both Big Bend NP and Guadalupe NP every year. I've hiked all over New Mexico, Colorado, Idaho, Arizona, and Utah. I spent a lot of my youth backpacking and did the Outward Bound Program for 5 years working towards the NOLS program but never got further than that. Where are you headed to?

AT for a week.
I did the approach trail last year and stopped at Neels gap.
Picking it up from there in March.
I hope to get about 77 miles up the trail.
Sunday to Saturday hiking.

I've been working on pack weight and equipment.

Cool, the only part of the AT I've done was a small run through Cherokee NF. I haven't spent much time East. Have fun.
