I'll be rooting for Bledsoe to do well, but even if he does, I have my doubts (though do hope of course) that the rest of the team is going to gel enough to give Bledsoe his last hooray shot at a title. I'm willing to give the guy a shot the first half of the season, but if we're only going to be mediocre and not seriously challenge for the nfc east, I'd much rather do so with a young QB (Henson of course) learning. Though I too think Bledsoe starts the entire season no matter what as that seems to be Parcell's way.

I'd like to see Henson play well enough in pre-season that Bill can have enough confidence to go to him if Bledsoe struggles. That is the role of a solid backup QB. If Henson isn't good enough to do that, we are in big trouble if Bledsoe struggles. So yes, I'd like to see Henson win the QB job, but it's doubtful he will impress enough and that's why Bledsoe is here. Henson's lack of experience is exactly why he should have been getting reps last year when we were 3-7, the weak NFC be damned! There's just no substitute for game experience for a young QB. I hope Henson sitting and learning at the end of a lost season pays off this pre-season, but I sort of doubt it.

I've always hated Bledsoe. He is a statue that when given time,ie(no pass rush) he'll do just fine, but that can said of almost any qb in the league. Parcells statement that "this aint no practice league" applies directly as to how I feel about Henson. He is a better baseball player than football player who is taking up space because he looks like a poster boy for the Nfl. The scouts say he just doesn't show the accuracy of a top pick and to prove a point, that's why they had him throw 5000 balls in 3 months, trying to catch him up to where most second year qb's already are. I feel he is a false hope, a myth, a fantasy that was conjured up in Jerry Jones mind as a device to sell T-shirts instead of win ball games. As bad as I hate Bledsoe's game, I would rather see him start over Henson for the next three years. At least he's a real football player.
If it turns out I'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit it. I'll take my medicine gladly, but I feel we're going down that same sorry Chad Hutchinson road again and the ending to the 2002 season made me sick to my stomach. I knew Hutchinson wouldn't succeed as passionately as I know Henson want either. Quarterbacking takes a total commitment and when you have waffling back and forth between sports, you have an individual that doesn't know what he wants, yet we have no options if Henson doesn't pan out. It's utterly hopeless and depressing.

Romo, not Henson is the heir apparent.........

And this would be based on the fact that he couldn't beat out a guy who had been away from the game for 3 years...and who had all of 8 college starts?

Or would it be based on the fact that he went undrafted?

Just curious.

Wanna keep comparing Testaverde to Quarterbacks who didn't have rocks for brains and weren't routinely called colorblind during their careers?

My point was mainly to poke fun at Vinny and Bledslow. Congrats on acting like some tough guy on a message board though, I'm sure someone is impressed besides you.

Hopes that Henson beats out Bledsoe by then end of the pre-season. I just read that novel, er, I mean thread..."Bledsoe: Sacks and Options ". Imma scared now.

Before I walk away, I make 2 predictions...Hos will agree with me and Nors won't !

:pc:

I would love for Henson to beat out by Bledsoe in the preseason - I don't think it will have any bearing on who starts this year because Bledsoe's name (and feet) is pretty much set in stone at starting QB.

Henson demonstrating that he has knocked off all the rust and improved his mechanics will mean that we won't have to go looking for a long-term answer at the QB spot next offseason. I would say the same of Romo but I've seen enough of him to know he will never be anything more than a Garrett.

You forgot to include the sorry "Quincy Carter Loop" that obviously took us nowhere.

the henson/romo decision ain't in yet. not even close.

everybody seems to have an opinion and, to date, nobody's has been proven invalid.

so far as i'm able to tell - henson is only ahead of romo in the phonebook.

If Bledsoe goes down and Vinny is back, I will throw up. Almost everytime he dropped back to pass, I closed my eyes because I thought there was a good chance the pass was going to be picked off. Please Coach, if the season is going down the tubes or Bledsoe gets hurt, go with Henson. We did guarantee the man some cash, let's see if he can earn it and be a part of this franchise.
