Anyone bet on spreads?

Just wondering if anyone bets on spreads here? I'm not much of a gambling type but thought it would be fun. Anybody actually make some good money while doing it? Let me know if there's any good sites out there that let's you do this.

I've thought about it but I don't know all that much about betting since I've never even been around anyone who bets. All the numbers seem kinda intimidating. I get some of the spread stuff but when I log onto some of the betting sites, there's like a ton of numbers and I just tuck my tail between my legs and run away. Plus I don't know what's a reputable site to do it on or whats legal or not. We need a betting for dummies thread. I'll grab a seat on the front row :bang2:

I have and believe me those odds maker know what they are doing. Donsbest.com has the spreads for all sports. I don't know where you can go to bet other Nevada. I am sure that if you google it there has be some sites but they might be out of the country.

Don't do it. It's addicting. And you won't win. The only winners are the bookies, and they win because of the juice/vig.

I lost a lot of money last year. A lot.

You have never seen my mothers Thanksgiving spread. Great food everywhere you look. Two plate fulls are not enough for one sitting. I would NEVER bet against her when it comes to making a feast like that. My mouth is watering just thinking about it right now!

You have to be very careful if you bet...don't bet your mortgage, don't bet any more than "play" money. Don't bet from your heart, but your head. Listen to expert's opinions. If you can find inside, late info on a player / game, use that against the spread.

I mean really. In the NFL, you can never know who is actually going to win the game. Who expected the Cowboys to lose to the Bengals last year? Who expected the Cowboys to beat the Commanders in '89?

You haven't yet used your PTM (Personal Time Machine) to jump a day to see results? Okay, you got us. Yes, you can see the results. But the problem is that somehow the Universe detects that we have tried to cheat for financial gain, and intervenes to make the game unpredictable again. We think this is currently caused by a combination of factors - the current polarization of Earth to the North, the flow of the Precession (galactic rotation), BSPN anti-Cowboys bias level, and the current percentage of Earth women with implants. However, we are working to resolve this interference with the LHC (Large Hadron Collider). That is the REAL reason for the LHC. Oops, I wasn't supposed to let that out. Don't tell anyone you heard it from me.

It's a good site. I have made over 200 dollars this season so far. (I know thats nothing to most people but again I am just in college.)

I bet on spreads, and usually like to parlay different games together. I have won over 100 dollars by betting 3 dollars or less this way.

So let say there's 3 games you want to bet on:

Dallas 7 point favorites
Green Bay 10 point favorites
San Francisco 7 point favorites

You can bet all 3 to win and win more money that way (so instead of getting .8:1 odds or whatever, you get 2:1 or 3:1 odds). The lines also move, so that instead of dallas needing to win by 7, you may only need them to win by 3 (or 1, or something).

As a rule, bookies make more money off parlays than any other bet, because they look so enticing to bettors, but actually have far greater odds against than any of the other straight single game bets.

The spreads don't change when you parlay games. If they have to win by 7. they still have to.

But he's right its obviously far riskier to bet on parlays. Just do research and go with your gut.

Just to expound a bit -

Pamela Anderson. She was the key. We saw a brief window of opportunity when she decided to remove her implants. We knew, but nobody else did. That was when the scales changed in our favor and we were able to raise the billions necessary for the LHC. Okay, so a fallout was the global recession, but we think it is a small price to pay. We knew in advance of Pamela, and were ready for the shift, allowing us to make BILLIONS. Okay, sorry, the global recession is on us, but we think everyone will benefit in the long run. Hell, blame Pamela Anderson.

We THINK we have the bugs fixed in the LHC so as not to cause a black hole when it is finally activated, really not sure. We can't see past that right now due to several factors: (1) the impending sex scandal tape of Mylie Cyrus (2) the release of Paula Abdul from American Idol, (3) and the per capita stupidity rate, which was eclipsed unfortunately by Michael Crabtree.

If a black hole does appear from LHC activation, and we all get sucked into a sudden death, many apologies in advance.

I've seen a lot of people get in a lot of financial trouble betting NFL games. I guess the best bit of advice I could give is.............only bet what you are willing to lose and NEVER chase.

Truth.

I only bet on college games. If I do bet NFL, its single games that I feel really confident in.

Also truth on not making money. Thats why I bet low amounts. It's more fun for me.
