Maybe they don't trade a 1st. Or maybe they don't trade anything. But...

Does anyone else feel like maybe the Cowboys still might trade for an RB in 2025?

Jerry loves him some running backs..

I like Blue. But I also know he isn't your bell cow player right now.

I think Blue will play more receiver than we think, which is why they're not worried about keeping many on the 53.

I think they want to see Blue a little more then make a call. I seriously doubt they spend/trade a #1 for a RB. But I think it’s like the 2018 WR room. Hoping they get someone to step up and then if not make a trade. I really don’t think they’d be trading a 1-4 round for one tho.

I also think our offensive line with Tyler, Beebe, and Booker is going to make the RBs look good.

There are 31 GMs praying their phone rings and it's Jerry on the other end......

"Hi there, it's Jerry Jones here, id like to offer you a 1st in 2026 for xxxxxxxxx"

"Wow Jerry, I'm listening. I assume the 1st is your GB pick you wish to trade"

"Don't be ridiculous, it's our pick as thats gonna be at 32 after I pull this trade off"

"OK Jerry you old sly dog, you got me again so with a heavy heart, I accept"

.....phone call ends, GM dances round the room shouting "we got a top 10 pick next year"!!!!!!!!

Im scared we trade for ANY player, not just a RB!

We aren't making a run this year, keep the flipping ammo for the next 2 drafts and build an actual, functional, rounded roster set up for a few years.
Totally agree. One thing to consider is if Pickens balls out and prices himself out of our range then we would get a comp pick. For ‘28 we realistically could be looking at 2 first rounders and 2 third rounders. 5 picks in a strong ‘26 draft is exciting.

I totally agree, let’s hold onto our picks.

They either package up for Jeremiyah Smith (might not need to if we go 7-10 or worse again), or they trade for one.

I definitely think we won’t go into 2026 with this committee again. Williams and Sanders don’t get re-signed, imo. A young room of Smith, Blue and Mafah, with Luepke at FB, is exciting.

They may dabble with other released vets in a week or two, especially if our current RBs don’t prove themselves early on. That said, one value of having 2 first round picks is that you can use a later one on a top RB instead of bargain bin drafting much later.

I’m against trading a pick unless GB is 8-0 at the deadline and look like SB favorites. If the pick looks like it’s gonna be 29-32, I’d consider trading it for an impact RB or OT. Because a player that’s picked that late in the first round will likely have a 2nd round grade.

Jerry loves running backs? Not lately, unless they're named Zeke. Then he has an irrational mancrush. But otherwise, it's just later round picks for the last ten years.

I think he'll like them more after another year of our washed vets sparing it up, though. Then we can spend a decent draft pick on one in a weaker draft than this past one. Sigh.

Dallas is NOT trading any of those first round draft picks acquired from Green Bay unless it's draft day 2026....

These picks better go into improving defense, if you want to improve offense then go trade an offensive player to get more picks. This has been cowboys problem with improving defense then asking an underpaid and undervalued unit to play like all pros. Take the picks and reinvest them on the correct side of the ball. Get yourself a CB and defensive tackle bc clark is aging and likely can't afford after this year. Point is dobt take the picks and neglect the defense that gave you those picks.

Just stay flexible and see how things shake out. We got mad they traded 4ths for bad players like mingo lance and Milton but now we’re pretty well loaded to really have depth and young prospects at basically every position.

Now that this is all over with I’m so happy we don’t have so much money tied up into a few positions. It’s so stressful, Joe buck is like and if you’re a cowboys fan that is the last thing you wanna see Micah parsons is down and it looks bad .

I agree with this. Particularly since during Jerry’s tenure he’s witnessed the most success when the running game was the focal point.

Pending Booker’s development, the interior of the O-Line could be a strength of the team next season. If the perimeter guys can play to quality 1/2lb. beef patty levels, then put a stud behind the line and let him go. Don’t wait to get top choice at every position before getting your guy, do it soon.
