I understand the point you are trying to make, but the chase actually makes it easier for teams to coast and win a title.
Wait a sec here.................
Your original post was all about how only two of the "Chase" winners were legit champs, because it's just crap-shoot now (or something along those lines). I took your opinion to mean that the Chase sucks, because it produces illigitimate champs. They're only champs because the Chase format gave them a HUGE MULLIGAN break, and they otherwise would'nt get a sniff at the trophy.
Here, your insinuating that it's "easier for teams to coast and win a tite". Well, the only ones who would be able to "coast" to a title would be the favorite or favorites to win it GOING INTO the Chase! Right?
I mean, if the Chase started today, NO WAY that a Mark Martin or a Biffle or a Kenseth would be able to "coast to a title". The bottom 5 or 6 guys going in would have to scratch and grind and fight like hell to win the title.
So which is it? Does the Chase produce "paper" Champions, a driver who just got lucky in the Chase? Or, is it a venue for a driver to just "coast" to the title because he's so far ahead and dominant that he could? Because it can't be both.
