anyone else happy we're ducking the saints?

If you don't think getting thier stadium back and everything didn't have anything to do with thier success, then you didn't watch that Monday night game against Atlanta last year. Nobody would have beaten the Saints that night.

I know they have some good players making good plays....but I think they were really riding emotion last year.

Until they can sustain that type of performance for a year or three.....I am officially discounting them. Maybe they will prove me wrong. I hope not. :

You can only ride emotions for so long sooner or later you have to go out and play the game and the only way to maintain any emotion is by making plays. Yes I did see the Monday Night game against the Falcons and saw the game at Texas Stadium as well. They went 6-2 at home and 4-4 on the road. They went out and played damn good football and deserve respect because they went out and earned it. Like any team in today’s NFL they could fall off the table next year but I think that team has some good talent and a fine coach and I fully expect to see them challenging next season for a title and I hope it is the Cowboys who get in their way.

I would like the Boys to play the Saints next year, because it would mean the playoffs! Having said that, there will be a big difference in Defensive philosophy next season. Payton knew which players were weak in Parcells' 3-4 scheme and how to expose Parcell's gameplans in general. I suspect Roy W., DWare and Bobby Carp will have much different roles next year.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm an avid Cowboys fan but I'm also an avid fan of the NFL. I believe respect is what you earn not what you deserve and the Saints played damn good football and earned respect. Their fans should be proud of how they played this past season

If you don't think the Saints are not a good team well that is cool with me. I saw enough of their games that I feel they are a very good team and has a chance to improve themselves this off-season. I have no grudge against the saints nor am I a fan of theirs but from an unbiased opinion I think they are one of the up and coming teams.

I've hated the Saints ever since they blew the Cowboys out at home.....so my opinion is totally biased and somewhat immature.

Seriously though....I guess they have as good a chance as everyone does these days.....but having a good a chance as everyone means you can be going 5-11 too.

I never judge any team on how Dallas did aginst them. I'm no fan of the Saints and if they went 0-16 next year I would not lose any sleep. In fairness though I felt they played great and did so with a couple of key injuries the biggest being Joe Horn for the last 4 weeks of the season as well as the playoffs.

Dude, you know how ironic your statement is. Coach Payton did real coaching to us. He knows what real coaching is. He knows what it looks like. He does it now. Hes pretty damn good. You can say he had all star players at QB, WR, RB and all that. So did the 90 cowboys. Does that make Jimmy not a real coach now?

Give credit where credit is due. Coach Payton is a fine young coach and the saints are stupid if they dont lock him up long term. After seeing that, I sorta wish Jones had of axed Parcells last year and given the job to Payton. Wouldn't we all be surprised and happy now!

As for playing the saints, with Coach Phillips, Payton wont have an edge on us any more as far as knowing the schemes, tendencies and such. We will draft and sign and change personnel somewhat, so his knowledge of our players will diminish.

I would love to see a late season game between that same good team that kicked our butts and Phillips team after say 10-12 games of getting in grove.

How are we ducking them when the schedule is set by the NFL, Dallas cannot pick and choose opponents? I must admit, I am really looking forward to the football knowledge that will answer that query. Have at it. Wow me with something intelligent.

If we had finished in the same position in our division as they did we would have played them again this year. Are you suggesting we lost to them last year so we wouldn't finish first in the NFCE and have to play them in 2007? Seriously?

well if the lame arse locals would support the team and go to the games themselves, this kind of junk wouldnt happen

I hope things change some when the team moves to Arlington...right now we have probably the lousiest "home field advantage" of any team in the league

right on the head. Honestly I am shocked that people are still riding the "one and done season" thought process. The Saints are good and they will only get better.

Disclaimer: Don't take my words as a ringing endorsement that they'll be in the NFC Championship again next year. We'll have something to say about that and they'll just have to take it like the men that they are. That said, any statements that suggest the Saints will fall off of the face of the earth after an emotionally high season are simply preposterous to me...

It happens almost every year in the NFL nowadays.

Some team comes from the bottom of the barrel, makes noise in the playoffs, and is back to floundering around again the following year. I mean c'mon people....this has happened so many times to teams with much better players.

Will the Saints do the same thing? I think they will. Maybe I'm wrong but until they can string together 3 or 4 years of success, they are still a one year wonder. The fact that they did it right after the big Katrina mess only reinforces the "underdog superpowers" angle.

If you think the Saints' success wasn't related to their emotional high last year, you are denying human nature. Mothers have been known to pick up automobiles off of children.....you gonna tell me a football player can't give a little extra effort for an entire community in need of uplifting? Get real. With the parity in the NFL a little extra effort makes a huge difference.

The Saints will be in hangover mode next year. I'll be putting my money on it.

No way - the blueprint that they have will be outdated by September 2007. It's the blueprint for how to beat the 2006 Dallas Cowboys.

This will be a completely different team and offense next year. I can't wait to see the Garrett offense. He's coached and played under Norv's timing-based system, Gruden's west coast offense, Saban's offense and I believe even Coughlin's offense. I know that I am probably overhyping here, but I expect big things from Red Ball.
