Anyone else have the feeling that this will be an offense-oriented draft?

Looking at who the Cowboys brought in, they have invited several high round prospects at line, RB, and WR. Also makes sense considering we went heavy defense last draft.

I think it will be too. Just makes sense considering Jerry's comments on the offense earlier this year, and with their new commitment to Romo.

And really, anybody on offense would be great...that unit was truly terrible last year but for the emergence of Dez....I think we need to come away with a rb, wr and a g/c

After the 1st two picks? Absolutely1

I see the Cowboys drafting offensive skill players after round 3.

It'll probably go something like this that's the case.

Rd 1 Jonathan Cooper
Rd 2 Terrence Williams
Rd 3 Barrett Jones
Rd 4 Joseph Randle
Rd 5 Chris Gragg-gotta draft an Arkansas kid
Rd 6 Ace Sanders

I don't buy it. We love defensive guys and I could see us going DT in the 1st.

I believe we will draft a lineman and a RB and may draft a WR if the right one falls.

2 + olineman and a RB would work for me.
I would like to get at least one Dlineman and a safety though.
I guess it depends on the quality of the players when our pick comes up each round.

I know we sold out hard for defesne last year.

Needs:

1. OL
2. DL
3. DB both S and CB
4. RB
5. TE
6. WR
7. PR

While that only leaves out QB and LB they are needs. I wouldn't be surprised to see two OL, one RB, one DB, one DT, and one TE or WR drafted. I suspect they will look at the team, FAs, and UDFAs to fill CB.

With Carr, Claiborne, Scandrick, and Moore. I think they're in decent shape at CB.
I'd drop that down the needs list somewhat.
Safety is anoout story altogether.

Yup, I wouldn't be shocked if this is how it goes down given the defensive changes the team is making.

I don't have that feeling I believe it will be 3 Offense 3 Defense unless we trade for more/less picks.

DT, S, LB

OL, RB, WR

Only if its OL. it better be BOTH lines. I dont want to see any RB or WR before round 5. Center, guard, dl safety. That better be the picks I swear I will vomit if we take a safty in round one.

I think they have positioned themselves to truly pick the best players available from a group they really like (Richardson, Vaccaro, Warmack, Cooper etc.)

Getting allen at S and Durant at LB filled big holes and at least gives Dallas someone in those positions who can play.

Now Dallas can just take the best available and move on.

Aside from OL, I doubt it. We're pretty stacked at the offensive skill positions right now.

I think I remember Jerry saying soon after last year's draft which was heavy on defense and adding Carr in FA, that the Cowboys would likely go heavy on offense this year.

You never know how the draft is going to go down. I do think our needs are about equal between offense and defense so it all depends on how things play out on draft day.

I would arrange our needs as follows:

1. OL
2. DL
3. Safety
4. RB
5. LB
6. WR
7. TE
8. CB
9. QB

I hope we manage to use all of the first 3 picks in our 3 positions of most need. I'd really like at least one OL and one Safety. I also happen to think based on the depth of the draft that we're likely going to be able to get our needs filled without having to reach at all.

Of course, if a special player falls to you unexpectedly then it is okay to depart from this plan but those things can't be predicted ahead of time. You draw up your board and then try to strategically stick to it or close to it.
