Anyone else notice we are pushing the play clock?

The first couple of games it seemed we were doing a much better job of getting the plays called in, getting lined up and snapping the ball with plenty of time. Now the past couple of games we are back to taking the play clock nearly to zero on every snap.

It just seems to add to the confusion on offense when things get rushed at the last second. It honestly irritates the hell out of me.

Yep. It's so chaotic. Been happening for years. How long do we have to do this before we move on from JG.

What is really mind numbing is we seem to do exceptionally well in a no huddle type offense. It's almost like if it works well we never go back to it.

Is It though? I thought we specifically addressed this issue in the offseason.

It's on the QB. He's supposed to be your general in the huddle. If plays are coming in too slow then it's on him to correct it. If players are lollygagging back to the huddle, it's on him to correct it. He doesn't correct it, you know why? Because Romo is comfortable playing this style. I hate it, but it's been a romo staple for years. If you want it to change, you have to change romo.

Seeing as how you dont know when the plays are called into the huddle, blaming just the QB is a bit silly.

That's on the QB.

Romo didn't do it when Sprano was here. It started when JG fully took over the offense. It's part of trying to make Romo into Peyton/Brady by JG.

Actually no it's not. If romo thought the plays were coming in too late then what is stopping him from voicing his opinion about it to the coaches and having it corrected?? It's been going on for years, don't u think he would have said something by now if that's the case? This has happened under two coordinators it's obvious to anyone with an unbiased clue that romo is the main cause for the pre-snap chaos. Marty B and Ogletree aren't here anymore for people to scapegoat.

It's Romo, been that way since he got here....coordinators have come and gone, he's been through three head coaches, one thing remains constant.

Nothing drives me more batty than watching the clock run down to three seconds or less on virtually every snap. This does nothing to help the oline if you ask me....only makes there job more difficult.

On that note this probably aids pass rushers as it takes out alot of thier guess work on timing their jump off the ball.

It looks to me like Frederick just snaps the ball whenever the clock is about to hit :00. We've actually become strangely expert at it, despite the stomach problems it causes us fans.

It's Romo because he visibly starts audibling and making more checks. Very easy to spot.

It's the best way to defend Romo. Show blitz, particularly up the A-Gap. Run a lot of joker blitzes and watch him try to out-think the blitz. Eventually the D-Coordinator can get a feel with where Romo will go with his hot reads and you can then set Romo up for a pick by making him think that the hot read is there, but then switch up the coverage to defend that hot read.

And he falls for it...every...single...time.

Exactly. I just fail to see the benefit to doing this on every single snap.

That and it allows the defense more time to set up and disguise their blitzes and coverages. Also hurts the running game as well.
