He was a guest and talked about how Kolb would be good, so they will have no problem at QB. He was then asked if they can compete with the Cowboys this year. He said it comes down to the offensive line. He mentioned our OL problems and if he was Jerry, he would be looking around for some help. He said he mentioned this to Jerry yesterday. Baldinger also went on to say that he has met the oline and they are not very smart, yet did not expand on it. That got approval from the radio hosts. I am not sure if this he said it just to make himself look good in Philly. In the end, he stated that he thought the Cowboys, if there line holds up were the better team.

Did anyone else in PA, NJ or DE hear this?

No, but living in NJ I do know that Baldinger is a homer/moron that can not be taken seriously. Hes laughable, as well as everyone else on Comcast Sportsnet in the Philly area.

I didn't hear it, but I somewhat have to agree about the smart thing. BIGG and Gurode don't come off as being extremely intelligent.

I would say the smartest oline players would be Free and Koiser followed by Colombo. I think the trouble with blitz pickups that the Cowboys have had and teams attempt to expose is usually up the middle and they attack the gaps on either side of BIGG or Gurode as they are the weakest links when it comes to blitz pickup.

I would prefer that Jerry start putting a premium on intelligence when drafting offensive linemen. Smart play can make up for less natural ability. More natural ability can't always make up for dumb play.

The Eagles have OL problems of their own, so I'd say the door swings both ways.

They are old, stupid and injury prone, I think we should just forfeit the season.

All the talk before camp from the media was that we would be having OL issues because of Free, now that they don't have Free to beat up our OL is stupid.

Man can the season get here quick enough.

Baldinger doesn't exactly come off as a smart guy himself.

But Kosier is very smart and although Gurode has more mental mistakes than I care for he is pretty smart also. I think Free is too. Big Leonard is the only one that might come off as dumb and he's just a big country boy. Colombo comes off as at least being average in intelligence.

Soooo....if by week 2 Colombo and Kosier come back and the rest of the O-Line is in tact, the big difference from last year's O-Line and this year's O-Line will be Doug Free replacing Flozell.

Soooo.....the problem is that the Cowboys O-Line sucks and they are dumb.

Soooo.....does that mean Free is dumber than Flo?

Soooo......was going 11-5 last year and torching the Eagles defense just luck?

Soooo......do you need a dumb O-Line to torch the Eagles defense?

Oh wait, it was all McNabb's fault. I'm sure that's the excuse.

I think they should just sell the franchise. Make it a 31 team league. Make a rule that if 2 starting O-Linemen get hurt in a season, you cannot make the playoffs.

I am sure he said it partly because he was on a Philly radio station. I don't dare think for one minute he would say it while he was with NFLN in Oxnard yesterday.

Or maybe we should just go into re-build mode now, trade the OL for draft picks.

Wow!!! Just WOW... You may want to look into Gurode college background. I think he came out being regarded as very intellegent.. The bolded parts don't look very good... Again, WOW!!!!

His finger always distracts me.
Especially when he's talking and flinging his hand around and the pinky is just kinda twirling around like a piece of raw bacon in a wind tunnel.

I think that has been obvious over the last few seasons.

Gurode and Davis make WAY too many mental mistakes, and making mistakes on the interior and blowing A and B gap assignments will kill an offense just as much if not more than a LT making the same mistake.

I think people are coming around to see that Free will be a strength of our offensive line like myself and others have said this offseason, not a weak link.

/shrug. He went to Colorado where he earned a degree in ethnic studies and was a member of Colorado's "Academic Starters". Not sure that means a whole lot.

I didn't declare Gurode stupid, I just said he doesn't come off as *extremely* intelligent. There is a difference just as there is a difference between book smart and street smart. (wisdom) Football is a cerebral game for many of the positions. Offensive line is one of the more cerebral of them. I'm sure if he was completely stupid he wouldn't be playing the position.

So that's why he barely saw the field early in his career and was benched in favor of Al Johnson? Parcells had to stay on him early on to make sure the mental lapses were at a minimum.

Throw that college stuff out the window, Gurode's MO his entire career has been he is physically dominating, but that he is not mentally consistant.

Really guys? Baldinger says our O-line is dumb and a bunch of guys want to just chime right in agreeing with him? The Cowboys have been in the playoffs for 3 of the last 4 years. They have won the division 2 of the last 3 years. Their QB passed for 4500 yards last season. They had a breakout receiver last year. Their trio of running backs have been impressive. Their TE's stats are elite. All of this with a bunch of dummies up front, huh? Amazing what a team can achieve with a bunch of idiots blocking.

None of the starters strike me as being very intelligent, though I haven't seen much of Free in interviews and what not to have formed an opinion on that.

And :laugh2: at another case of fans ripping someone who isn't bowing to worship the team.

The OL does have issues. We saw them last year, and we'll likely see them again this year. It's the same group of guys, just a year older now.

IMO, if the Cowboys have a great season, it will be because Romo/Witten/Jones/Austin/Bryant were able to play around and through the OL's shortcomings, not because the OL played significantly better than in '09.

The steelers won a super bowl with a terrible offensive line.

Fail.
