Anyone hear Jerry talk about Roy?

If he's really lost that weight, then that's significant IMO. Jerry could be overselling some of it, but if he's lost 7-8 lbs. then he must be working hard and doing what they've asked him to do.

I thought the most interesting part of that was his talking about the pressure players. Maybe I'm being hopeful, but I think Ellis is gone. Like Jerry said, we'll get enough pressure without him.

I just hope they get something decent for Ellis. Even a 5th rounder would please me.

Jerry was gushing all over Kitna too, which I found strange since he is only here to back up Romo. But it is nice to have a capable backup.

Did you guys hear the Brad Johnson diss? "One was playing hurt and the other was playing like he was hurt." Ouch.

I've bought Jerry's bill of goods too damn many times to give anything he says much credence.

Well, Jerry is partly responsible for bringing the washed-up QB here....

Was just watching the longer PC with Stephen, and oh, that Jerry. There won't be any more like him. "You know we thought a lot of Kitna because when he came available we hit him like chum..." :laugh2:

I really think Stephen is already running things more and more behind the scenes. Jerry will always want credit and will always say I did so-and-so and I made such-and-such decision, but when Stephen does get a chance to talk he acts and seems like he's more in charge all the time.

I bet that's what happens... We won't hear Jerry admit he's not doing as much as he used to. And Stephen will be content to let his dad take the credit and be the front man. But Stephen will do more and more as we go along. And I think he's already to the point where he's doing a lot.

Which of course is a good thing.

Stephen is #2 man in the organization. Of course, he's running things...and quite a bit of them. Stephen is the head man behind getting this new stadium. Jerry may or may not make the final call on all things Cowboys, but Stephen is his right-hand man...

But I think it's gone from Jerry being the far and away #1 years ago to now where Stephen is maybe #1.5.

Sure, he used to do the contracts and a lot of leg work for Jerry, but now I think he's actually making substantial decisions.

He and the rest of the kids grew up in the business. It's only natural that his responsibilities would grow with that. You're hearing and seeing Charlotte more. You're seeing and hearing Jr. more.

I think Stephen has been very involved all along, but now the perception of him has changed. Especially that they're all getting a bit more face time. However, it's obvious that Stephen is more heavily involved in football side of things like Jerry. Also when he speaks, he doesn't come across as a boob like his Dad.

I think the TO being gone was Stephen's doing imo

Everything that has happened this offseason kind of echoes the philosophy I have always heard stephen talk about. Draft football players, dont chase rainbows, dont add risky people, stay young etc....I think he really liked the way parcells ran things and that is basically what is going on now with a small twist in player type we are looking for, not obesessing over size like parcells and ireland did.

I am all for it. Its everything I want, a tough hard working team with high character guys who care about each other, there coaches and the fans. As a fan you cant ask for anything more.

Jerry always hypes his FA signings. I don't have a problem with that, but as for it carrying any weight with me....well, let's just say I remember Jerry gushing over Tank Johnson last year and my most memorable moment when it came to what he did on the field was when he ended up 6 yards in the end zone on an attempted goal line stand.

In other words, not buying. As much as he wants to be, Jerry still is not a true talent evaluator.

That said, I do think Williams will have a good year after working with Romo all this summer. And being healthy.

Great post ... I agree and hope you are right.

I think TO being gone this offseason is a pretty clear indication that Stephen is being allowed to make more and more decisions, or at least have a heavier influence on them.

I think it's pretty clear that someone with a lot of pull got Jerry to change his stance on keeping Owens.
