Tuesday is the deadline that teams can sign players from the Canadian Football League. We've looked at a few players in the past, but I haven't heard of anyone we're interested in so far.

I'm curious which league is considered more talented, the CFL, or the UFL?

I don't know, but I'll take the NCAA over both put together any day.

I havent heard of many players from the CFL.

The UFL has a lot of guys who people have heard about. Im pretty sure some of the QB's are Boller, Josh McCown, Jeff Garcia, Daunte Culpepper, and I think Grossman had some run there.

And my brothers friend Marcel Shipp is playing

Miami picked up a stud last year in olb Cameron Wake.

on feb 11th the eagles picked up phillip hunt and signed him to a 3 year contract. He led the CFL with 16 sacks in 2010.

Have anyone heard of him?

Yep....He was one of my sleeper picks from a couple years back. Played defensive end, but I thought he could project to a 3-4 pass rush specialist. Pretty sure he played for the University of Houston.

What I liked about Hunt was the fact that he always got better. Had around 2 and a half sacks as a freshman, than 7 1/2 as a soph,....10 as a jr,....then 14 as a SR. I might not be exact as Im going from memory, but normally my memory is pretty decent on stuff like this.

Re: 2011 CFL Free Agents
I hear Freeman from the Riders is going to pursue the NFL. It is just rumour though and I have nothing to back that.

I would like to sign Anderson from Calgary. Put him on the strong side and move Morgan to the weak side.

I would like to see Stewart on the Riders but I bet he re-signs with Montreal.

Re: 2011 CFL Free Agents
Wayne Smith from Sask I'd like.

SJ Green, Gerald Brown from Montreal would fit in great and both places are top needs.

Bauman, like noted above would be a good Canadian fit, an area Tillman wants to improve in.

A lot of good corners.. Browner, Tisdale, etc.

Re: 2011 CFL Free Agents
Browner offered a contract by the Seahawks per TSN

Re: 2011 CFL Free Agents
A couple of tidbits in Rod Pedersen's Rider blog...it seems that Andy Fantuz has signed with the Steelers, to be announced when the NFL season is done.

And, former Rider LB Rey Williams is likely to become a free agent on Feb 15, and the Esks are expected to sign him. Thoughts?
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

Both guys are former #1st overall draft picks.

Gauthier is probably going to be in a battle for a starting spot wherever he ends up. Might be a good short term fix at LT with the right birth certificate.

I'm against Bauman because the guy - much like Bowman - can't seem to ever get his hands to consistently catch the ball. If he can ever get that part of his game consistent then he has the potential to be one of the best NI receivers. I'm kind of pulling for us to pick Parker with our #2 pick though.

As for NI OL; I'd prefer we go the draft route.

Skyler Green. He's a guy that should come in right away and solve our return game problems.

Is this the same Hawkins kid who was in Irvin's show?

ST Andrew Hawkins-Signed with St. Louis Rams(NFL)

TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor: Running back Avon Cobourne may come down to money. Damon Duval may have kicked his way off the team. Quarterback Chris Leak wants a chance to start which means he'll need a new CFL address. TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor: Geoff Tisdale was Hamilton's best player in the secondary this season and the Cats will do the best to retain him.

TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor: Ben Archibald was named the league's outstanding offensive lineman and should be looking for a salary to match. Wes Lysack is a strong Canadian safety who may want to look for a team where he will start every game.
TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor: Linebackers Joe Lobendahn and Ibraham (Obby) Khan will be looking for significant pay raises. Beyond that the Bombers can afford to pick and choose who they would like to bring back and at what price.
