My mother says "Warsh" and "Warshington".......Irritates the Hell out of me. Why do people add an 'r' like that? Makes no sense to me, and I wanna know how that started.
Is she from WV or KY/Pennsytuckia? They love some warsh. My cousins out of Beckley love saying warsh knowing it messes w.me. Country appalachia way of saying Washington.

Only 1/3 of a year.
Probably doesn't count.
It was in Caracas though, before the nut-job took over.
Like extreme socialism always does, it made the country drop off a cliff.
Pretty good place to an absolute hell hole in just few years

Where you living at Daschoo?

Scotland, lived here all my life though I've moved about within the country a fair amount. We nearly emigrated to the States about 8 years ago but the wee man's going to be going to school in the next couple of years so don't see us moving now.
I've always quite fancied the idea of living abroad but if I'm away for a couple of weeks I end up drunk listening to Caledonia on YouTube so don't think I'm cut out for it

Switzerland and Germany. I was an exchange student -- a summer in Switzerland working in a supermarket, and a year in Germany working first in a hotel restaurant and then attending college. Now my German is very good.

That's pretty funny and yeah if you got a dude about to start school I can imagine that impacts things. But sounds like you have many good times abroad lol. Maybe that's the legacy you leave wee man haha.

On a personal note I dated a Scottish girl (messed that one up real bad)... Her parents immigrated to the states in the 70s. They were very cool. Her dad is the main person in the Average White Band, if you know them. Might be a bit before your time... But they were pretty famous and one of those musician's bands. (James Brown has a band he called the Above Average Black Band) as an homage.) http://www.superthrowbackparty.net/2015/01/who-is-above-average-black-band-aabb.html

His music room in his house is filled with him playing with all sorts of legends (bb king, Clapton, etc).

Other than every Scottish person I seem to meet being smart ** that's my connection to your land.

Stationed in Germany for 6 years.
Pros:
- Driving on the Autobahn was fun and convenient as were the use of roundabouts vs stop lights.
- The landscape was beautiful. If you liked hiking or mountain biking, you could find a nice wooded hill within a few mile radius. We had a really sweet set of hills by my house that I mountain biked almost weekly.
- Tons of little festivals and Holiday markets. Oktoberfest. Fasching parades in every village. Halloween parades, too. Everything involved Schnapps and Bier.
- The weather was really nice, IMO. Not too cold in the winter and the Summers were super nice. It was overcast a lot, but that also kept the Fall from being too cold. I prefer it over the Windy Mid-west US I'm living in now.

Cons:
- If it's past 7 or 8 pm, don't count on any store being open. If it's a Sunday, depending on where you live...also no store being open. I know people like to talk crap about Walmart, but man, there's nothing like needing some tools/equipment at 10pm on a Sunday night to finish a project.
- VAT (Value Added Tax). If you buy anything on the economy, not only is the price going to be expensive, but with 19% VAT, it gets even more expensive. The only neat thing is that the price w/VAT is stated. If it's 19.99 euros, that's what you pay at the counter
- The ability to hunt and fish is so dang hard (legality-wise).
- Own a gun? Yeah, right.
- Hospital Care. The Wife and I had one of our kids born in the States and the other in Germany. Although German Doctors are every bit as good and Professional, the overall service sucked. Everything was backed-up or rationed. If you had a 12:00 appointment, you better not expect to be seen until 2pm at the earliest (everytime..). One OB-GYN providing for about 15 Women a day. We're were lined-up down a hallway.

I was also stationed in South Korea for a year, before I was Married, but not much I can say about it other than I was drunk for all 365 days there. Mink blankets, cheap tailored suits, some knock-off clothing and then.. the night life, which I'll not expand on since this is a Family website.

Maybe people from Brooklyn regularly steal R's from people from Boston...that's why they say Chowdah
