Anyone notice the difference?

The difference I saw in the offense in the second half was making adjustments to what Houston was doing in the first half to us defensively.

My pet-peave of this team last year and in our two losses this year, is not being able to change our offense at halftime enough to take advantage of what the defense is exposing itself too.

Last week, against the Iggles, we constantly tried to go deep on their injured secondary and ended up with underthrown passes and interceptions. We never changed the offensive attack to go elsewhere to make the blitzing Lbers and CBs pay for their gambling.

In the end, the Iggles dared the offense to beat them throwing the ball to TO. Or anybody else deep. Yet, that's exactly what we kept trying to do.

Veteran teams will make adjustments on the fly and leave the gameplan to do what is needed to win games.

That has not been a strength of the BP teams to date.

Against good teams that will not allow us to play our game plan, we struggle, fall behind and end up playing into the other team's hands because they don't have to make alot of adjustments.

This team will not acheive as much as we'd like if that's the way it continues. I don't know if it's the coaches, the players or a combo of both. Or maybe it's the HC who stubornly insists that the gameplan will work, but it's not being executed well enough, so nothing gets adjusted on the field.

But in todays game, I saw the offense change the attack from trying to go deep to trying to stay with high percentage passes and quick drops and getting the ball out. I also saw the Cowboys stay with the running game thruout the second half, even when the passing started to be effective.

I also saw that Bledsoe made sure to throw the ball out in front of the WR and not throwing it short to allow the the DB a shot at an INT.

And I saw Patrick Crayton catching huge short passes to keep drives alive and keep our defense rested. 8 passes for him was a tremendous day and his skill in the middle of the field is beginning to show again.

I don't care if it's the Iggles or the Texans or whoever. The Cowboys must adjust their gameplan and exploit the other team whenever needed in order to win.

That's what I see. Even as much as this team seems to have improved over last year on paper..the coaches need to get more involved with making the changes during the 60 minutes of the game that will make the difference.

The teams in the NFL are all very close talent-wise. The coaching makes the difference for the top teams.

I'm still waiting to see our coaches establish themselves as a top staff that controls the team, prepares the team against top competition and then can be ready to know what needs to be changed and added or scrapped once the whistle blows to give the Cowboys their best chance to win.

We'll see.

I was at church during the game so when I got home I watched the tape. The VCR isn't in my office.

I remember sitting at church on Sundays back when I used to go when I was younger waiting for it to end... not waiting... PRAYING for it to end... so that I could beg my mom to drive me home as fast as she could to watch the Cowboys

Excellent post.

I think it may in fact be somewhat worse this year as we dont have a true OC. Bill is great at managing a game but I would like to see Palmer step up with a more adjustable game plan. I tend to think that Bill ignores some of that becasue he is so focused on the gameplay.

Drew Brees did not have much problem with the Philly blitz

Watch the game. Philly didnt bring the house like they did against us.
NO has a better line than we do also. Breeze has a quick release also.

it was an improvement but I wouldnt get too giddy... It was the Texans, who were ranked last or near the bottom of the league in virtually every defensive category

I suppose for every "glass is half full" poster that writes something positive this week, they can expect this type of response. Having said that, one can still take many positives from this game today. What impressed me the most about the Cowboys during this game was how they were able to shake off the hangover they were still suffering from after the loss to Philly. It was a true Jekyl and Hyde performance and should give cause for optimism for the fans of this team.

I could really care less if the Texans are the worst ranked team in the league. At this level of play, you're dealing with a bunch of over-paid, over-talented professionals where anything is possible. The Cowboys had plenty of reasons to self-implode and looked as if that would be the case considering how pathetic they looked throughout the 1st half. But in the 2nd half, somebody or something lit a spark underneath them and they came out and played like legitimate contenders all the way until the gun went off.

I think that that speaks a lot about the character of this team and I truly hope that it will continue as the road gets rougher for them in future games.

Easier said than done ;) But I sure would like to see a lot more of Romo. He may or may not be the answer, but I can see what we have isn't working too good.

THis team is so darned close, but so far this year we have been held back by Drew's arm and Flo's head/knee.

Speaking hypothetically of course.

I think Flo will come around. He looked lost last week, but he needs to regain confidence in that leg.

Drew's arm doesn't concern me, his decision making and legs do.
