Wasn't that play the OP is referring to an audible called by Romo? One that chaffed Parcell's hide just a little bit...but couldn't help but laugh about?

:hammer:

That would be the one!

Wasn't it the Miami QB Woodley that did it to Shula and was warned then went on to change a goaline play. He got the TD and Shula benched him.

The Romo years

2003 - Knocks Stoerner off roster
2004 - beats out Henson for #2 job
2005 - had a somewhat rough camp and Bledsoe starts. He again wins #2
2006 - Has a fierce camp battle with Bledsoe and misses starting by a slight margin. Takes #1 early mid season.
Up and down year good enough to make Pro Bowl.
2007 - holds off Brad Johnson and is on fire and 3-0

This kid is a great story. I know I take some heat but have been hyping that 1-AA QB from UNH for 4 years running. Well year three he won the Payton and he looks to shatter some records this year. I watch him play and it's like watching Romo. Sometimes its great when the little guy jumps up and knocks out the Giants.

nice way to put it

I remember that game clearly.

The Raiders were caught off guard because they thought he was going to spike the ball with 6 seconds left, but he drove it in under center to everyones surprise.

It was a solid decision on the fly. That's what I think is Romo's best quality. He processes information fast and makes mostly good decisions. And can deliver the goods.

I see an autobiography of him....eventually, and it should sell well. Also, motivation engagements as well, after he is done with football.

This was a few years back, maybe the preseason of 2004. Anyway, it was when everyone was talking about Drew Henson and others.

Romo came into the 3rd or 4th quarter of the game, and I remember him driving the team all the way down the field. He ended up running a QB sneak to get the touchdown and the lead, and got excited like he had just run for a touchdown in the Super Bowl. You couldn't help but to smile at his enthusiasm.

Does anyone else remember that? That's a moment that I still clearly remember when I see Romo do well.

I remember that. Thats when one of those two high-picked OL got a bad injury (jacobs or the other one).

I don't know why but your post made me think what will Tony Romo do post football career and Monday Night Football came to mind. He is a natural personality to do that kinda thing.

Probably because of his easy-going, warm personality, and his speaking abilities. His demeanor simply attracts people, so yeah, I think entertainment business suits him just fine, after football that is. :D

Whats up with the long no show on this site?

I thought you were smoking crack in 2005.
Couldnt understand why you favored Romo over Henson.
Always thought it was some kind of strong Bledsoe manlove and were affraid Henson would unseat him sometime in 2005.

As I said on this site before, I had no interest in Romo before preseason 2006. Was actually pissed when he was promoted to #2 over Henson. Thought it was a ploy to motivate Henson.

Up until the start of 2006 preseaon I was holding out hope for Henson.
Good buddy and I tune in for the first Preseaon game in Seattle and could not believe Romo was getting a start.
What the hell is Parcells doing? Is he smoking crack?
We have to find out what Henson can do.

Well let me tell you it only took one half of football and I was hooked.
Not only didn't I want to see Henson, I didnt want to see BLEDSOE.
I was hooked, thoughly on the Romo bandwagon.
I couldnt believe what I saw in that game. Thought he looked like fricken Joe Montana.
At that point I thought he could and probably should start.
After 3 weeks of Bledsoe sucking, I started to tout Romo for a start.

BUT HERES MY QUESTION FOR YOU. If Payton doesnt take the NO job do you think he convinces Parcells to start 2006 with Romo? I believe if he does we probably make it to the Superbowl last year. What do you think?

And where the hell were you week 4 and 5 2006 when I was screaming for Romo to get a start, mostly on my own, and taking a beating for it?

I'm not going to give you the PC answer,

I was pro Romo 2004/05 era over Henson as my eyes saw something special in Romo.

Now last year, and this will not be popular we might have gone further with Bledsoe. Romo up and downed us to a playoff berth that standings wise we could have made in 2005. Romo really imploded and failed to expose Seattle secondary in shambles - We win that game and likely mash Bears.....Bledsoe shreds that defense with his arm.

But long term it was Romo experience time that is paying off in 2007......

Where was I? On an extended vacation catching Rays on the beach.

We are now the best team in NFC

That must have been on another board, because the overwhelming majority wanted Romo to start Week 2 on this board.

I thought it was more poor game planning and play calling than Romo sucking. our coaches really did not take advantage of the weak secondary of Seattle. BTW, Bledsoe would have gotten killed vs. last years Bears.

All I know is that the year before last, Romo was heard saying he could lead this team, and some media thought he was a bit cocky for saying that.

The next thing I know, they are giving him a new contract and not letting him walk. That's when Romo got my attention, and then rumors of the ain'ts wanting him, at that point, I knew Romo must have had something special.

I can understand why people did not think highly of Romo. Not everyone got to see him through his early years as a raw player being groomed. But to anyone that thought Bledsoe was the answer, I'm sorry. Maybe that was due to the lack of video you had seen of him. I exclusively saw him on the Bills consistantly for his entire tenure there and cried when he came to Dallas. The guy was a statue who showed good signs when he first arrives to a new team. But from there on, he fumbles, cannot move, and throws interceptions at the utmost wrong moment.

Thank You Payton and Parcells for Tony Romo. And thank you to whomever has made this video.

I actually thought we might have something in Stoerner. He didn't make it here or anywhere else.

I knew Romo was a good prospect the year we brought in Henson and Testeverde. Also knew Carter would be cut shortly. Easy.............You keep 3 QB's on a roster generally. It was common knowledge Romo couldnt have gone on the practice squad without being picked up. We had JUST signed Bills boy Testeverde so he wasnt going to be cut, we had JUST signed Henson, so he wasnt going to be cut, that left Carter and Romo. Payton and BP were raving about Romo from the day we signed him, in fact Payton wanted to give him a shot as a ROOKIE. The kicker was an article/interview in the DMN about Romo. He was asked if he was worried about being cut because of the logjam at QB.............He basically laughed and said, NO, im not worried AT ALL. Right THEN I KNEW Carter was as good as GONE. Two weeks later, he was. Its also when I KNEW there was something to this undrafted QB, something special. BTW.............Anyone who STILL believes Testeverde was originally brought here to back up Carter is deluding themselves. NOPE, Testey was brought here to START and help groom Romo and Henson. Thems the facts............
