And I can see it both ways. I don't see why Time Warner should be forced to make NFL Network a base channel. Then everyone has to pay for it whether they want it or not. I think the NFL should take a one year deal to get it part of the Sports Pak and then negotiate from there. If a ton of people sign up for it like they think will happen, they can get TWC to put it in the base package.

CowboyMike;1790002 said:NFL Network wants to be treated the same as ESPN, and I don't blame them. They have more quality and unbiased programming than ESPN hands down.

I think you mean the NFL, which is demanding $300 million in fees plus 100% of ad revenues from Time Warner.BigDFan5;1789976 said:Time warners only offer is "give us what we want and let us screw NFL fans"
BTW that doesnt look real
Time Warner would like to make the same deal with the NFL, but the NFL refuses to give up any of the ownership. It wants all the fees and all of the ad revenues.BigDFan5;1790012 said:Why will the MLB channel be on basic cable next year? Because MLB sold a % of the channel to the cable company

The problem is that neither side will budge. People act as if it's a one-sided issue. The NFL is screwing people as much as the cable company.AdamJT13;1790034 said:So, what's the problem with that?
Yes, but is it asking too much? Why isn't it willing to budge? Does it not care about its fans?BigDFan5;1790033 said:You mean a network wants to be paid for their channel? no way!
You keep quoting these numbers but I havent seen anything on their advertising revenues.

Multiple cable companies believe the NFL is asking for too much. When a single entity can't reach a solution with multiple separate entities, is it more likely that the multiple entities are being unreasonable? Or is it more likely that the single entity is being unreasonable?

Why does that argument work against the cable companies, but not the NFL?
The cable companies would be willing to put it on the basic package if the NFL would budge on its 100% ad revenues. The NFL wants to have its cake and eat it too. That's fine. As long as people realize that the people losing out from the NFL's demands are the fans.BigDFan5;1790045 said:Cable companies are trying to force me to pay extra for garbage channels nobody wants, NFL is trying to get the channel I want on a package I already have
They're separately owned corporations that are in direct competition with one another. If you're suggesting that they're colluding to drive down prices, then call the DOJ Antitrust Division. You say multiple entities like the cable companies are all different. They are partners man, Comcast, Time warner, Cox the biggest obstacles to the NFL Network are all partners on multiple ventures They are working together
