Anyone think Ellis acquired a little motivation tonight?

Spencer played a decent game, and had two big pressures at key points in the game. Anyone think we may see Ellis decide that he can practice now?

One can only hope so. We need all the help we can get. Spencer does have potential. If he continues to improve, it will help Ware tremendously. And adding a healthy Ellis to the rotation will be gravy. (I think Spencer should continue to start).

Ellis doesn't need motivation, he needs more intestinal fortitude.

All the doctors have cleared him to play. Now Ellis needs to suck it up and don't be scared to get hurt again.

Ellis is a pro. I don't think he has motivation issues. He just needs to heal up.

Folks - he is trying to come back from an Achilles rupture in less than a year. I don't think that is some easy feat.

Hard to say about Ellis.

Right now he is working the system. He wants more money, more respect and until he gets what he thinks he is owed, he's gonna be a not ready for prime time player.
His time has passed

Mentally, I think Ellis needs a hug. Poor guy just doesn't feel wanted anymore.

Physically, I think he needs more time. But not too much more.

I agree with this stuff. I like Ellis, but he has gotten on my nerves too. He just needs someone to stroke his ego a little bit.

Physically, I can't question him. That's a painful injury and for him to have played tonight would have been a miracle. Cleared or not, I don't question that he has pain in his ankle.

If anything, Ellis acquired leverage today. We couldn't rush the passer without him last year, and we didn't do it last night. Ellis is calling Jerry up now and saying "look what they're like without me."

Yeah, but technically, his replacement had the second best night rushing the passer (next to Ratliff).

Ellis is still our second best pass rusher. I want him back and quickly. We need that saavy veteran in the front seven.

There's no doubt we could use his veteran presence out there, but if the guy is in pain, he's in pain.

And if he's just being a wuss then what kind of veteran presence would that be?

I guess it's a catch22 type thing.

No because I don't think he is faking it. I look for him to get back soon but how Spencer plays I don't think has any effect on Ellis being ready to go or not.

If he comes back and hurts himself then everyone will say "how come he didnt take the full year to recover"

We need to wait. Better to have him in latter part of season than to have him a play a few games in the beginning and lose him forever
